Enjoyable and competitive fight. Thought they were very evenly matched.

Man, smh I mean all DeGale did all night was look for that one big shot he did land a good couple of shots but it doesn't detract from the fact that he was candidly outboxed for the larger majority of the rounds, I want to see the punch stats for this because I know this decision was absolutely bogus...
Maybe so it will line up another fight with Groves.
I think the 2nd knock down is debatable, as he was pushed down.
Outside of that. DeGale really did nothing, he was just posturing and getting picked apart.

Total: 114-112 ** (not 114-113) for Dirrell
rounds 6, 11 and 12 were close rounds, but I split rounds 11 and 12. I thought DeGale started well early in round 6, but Dirrell then took over. I don't know why DeGale should get both 11 and 12 rounds. He came on too late in round 11 imo. Round 12 was really anyone's round I gave it to DeGale.
But It was a close fight. The knockdowns were a huge factor. The judge who scored it 117-109 should never judge again. It was nowhere near that lop-sided.
Round 12 - 1st min, Degale coming forward, but not punching, Dirrell peppering him with pitty pat jabs.
2nd min, Degale starts to try and apply pressure but is getting countered and missing Dirrell
3rd min, Degale goes in to the body, then backs off. They start to exchange a bit in the center of the ring evenly, neither man really got the better.
30 sec, Degale backs off and starts to coast, Dirrell closed out the round with some solid shots.
I think overall Dirrell probably deserves round 12 as well.

This is a good win for James, but you have to look at it in the proper context.
Dirrell is not the same fighter he was when he fought Froch and AA. He's not a top fighter now. But DeGale did his thing and won a close fight.
Reading through the thread is painful. Most of you guys can't put your nationalism aside. Its either Dirrell is garbage or was robbed, or DeGale is TBE.
Close fight could have went either way. I would like for Dirrell to go away now. I was pumped for him years ago. But it just seemed like he didn't want to be a top level boxer. Can't believe Froch fight was 5.5 years ago.
Also I like that stat about JD bring the first gold medalist/world champ from Great Britain. Good for him and his country and fans.

I had it 6-6 even in rounds with the 2 knockdowns being the deciding factor. 114-112 for Degale. Was rooting for Dirrell. He had a shot at winning but he let Degale back in the fight and Chunky swept the last two rounds.
Dirrell showed a lot of heart coming back from those 2 knockdowns and being down big on the cards. Rematch would be nice, but not now.

hitting air/gloves with punches isnt winning you a fight nor it should.(Dirrel lost this fight fair and square).

It was a close fight, Degale surprised me on a positive way, he was a positive disappointment. Though he faded badly in the middle rounds he could come back a little at the end.
Dirrel on the other hand was a negative disappointment, I don't know if he's just not his old form or Degale is just his best (or worst style matchup) opponent he faced up to date. At some point Degale outboxed him and at some points Dirrell cornered him, it was interesting to see Dirrell in such position.
I had it around draw but I have no problem with the judging, it could go to Degale. Naturally with the exception of that RIDICULOUS 117-109.
I look forward what DeGale will do now, I hope he will successful, except he faces some of my favourites. He fought well and it seems like he's an Arsenal fan so he can't be a bad person
So congratulation to him he proved me wrong (I thought Dirrell will win)!Last edited by HEND; 05-24-2015, 02:07 AM.
