Great first half by Degale, he won it big. Dirrell got a few of the close mid-rounds and looked like he was gaining some kind of control of the fight but took his foot off the gas in the championship rounds. It was a 7-5/8-4 (in favour of Degale) kind of fight with the 2 KD's making it a comfortable win for Chunky.

It's hard to look good against Dirrell and Degale did what he had to do to win convincingly.

Yes but take that round away dum dum, then its a different story, degale got outboxed from range, he has a looping back hand, and dirrells probably not the same as he was.

He wasnt outboxed from range at all. Degale evaded practically everything at distance and generally had the upper had at mid to close range.

I agree, very poor showing from DeGale. He caught Andre with some shots that he shouldn't have gotten got with early, thats was about the extend of the success he had in the fight. He basically closed his eyes and swung for the fences and somehow caught Dirrell for the knockdown, in a round that he was losing fairly decisively.

I think the 2nd knock down is debatable, as he was pushed down.

Outside of that. DeGale really did nothing, he was just posturing and getting picked apart.

Probably because he hugged his way to a home town gift of an olympic gold medal. He should have been disqualified in basically every single one of his matches.

Degale deserved the win, that Knockdown would have put a lot of guys out of the fight.

Dirrell did really well to recover and outbox Degale for the 6-10th Rounds, but just couldn't close the show in the 11 and 12th.

You have to give props to both fighters, IMO they both produced more than I was expecting.

Degale is one of those guys you can never rule out of a fight, but at times last night he looked a bit lost.
