  • Comments Thread For: Beltran-Soto a 10 Rounder, Could Be Changed To 12

A co-feature for the HBO broadcast on June 27th - that has Timothy Bradley and Jesse Vargas squaring off for the vacant WBO welterweight belt - has been finalized. Raymundo Beltran and Humberto Soto will collide in a junior welterweight contest, with a title potentially at stake.

Eric Gomez, V.P. and matchmaker for Golden Boy Promotions, told BoxingScene.com on Friday - "It's going to be (Humberto)Soto-(Ray) Beltran. Right now it's a ten round fight. It could possibly be a twelve round fight if we get a title for it." [Click Here To Read More]

I like Soto in this one. He just all around solid boxer with mad combos, Beltran eh, hes definately a strong fighter when he presses but can be outboxed. Solid matchup. Haymon should take note bcuz this is what fans want to see. Matter of fact, iwouldnt mind seeing Soto on PBC and id pick him over Garcia honestly, outside of Crawford and Matthysse i can see Soto giving all the top guys he11.

Dan Rafael says this will likely end up being for title Jesse Vargas has.

              Glad it's official now.

And credit to HBO for making it up to Soto after the Gomez debacle.

I like Garcia, he spun everbodies heads when he took 140 by surprise. He does have limitations though, he can be outboxed as proved by Herrera and Peterson. He also gasses hard down the stretch, hes not as slow as ppl say..he has slow feet but fast hands. He also telegraphs his shots bcuz he sits down em. If Soto can get through the early rounds and win a few, he can very well take over the later rounds. Taken into account of Sotos capabilities and Garcias limitations; slow feet, stamina issues, its an issue of having the right gameplan; movement, clinching will force Garcia to set and reset and outwork him with activity, which Sotos known for, sick combos. Soto can squeak by with a decision. Erik Morales is a completely seperate person and that outcome would have nothing to do with Soto. Soto is one of the most under-rated fighters in the sport.
