Will Al Haymon allow Deontay Wilder to fight Alexander Povetkin?

On one hand you'd think no. Haymon has a history of paying his guys to duck foreign fighters who aren't popular enough for the risk (in this case a VERY high risk, with everyone other than casual PBC viewers knowing Povetkin is the favorite).
On the other hand, if not Povetkin, then what? He has an even lower chance vs Wladimir who as the undisputed champ would probably offer him chickescratch money. Povetkin is known to have wealthy pseudo-state backing and might even pay more.
It's either defend vs Povetkin or fight Shannon Briggs type guys on Haymon undercards.Comment

unless there is a wlad fight around the corner, yes. if he were to vacate in order to take on a better and more highly ranked fighter than povetkin he deserves props for that.
he definitely wont fight him in russia and i think thats a smart move. lots of fishy stuff going on over there. povetkin was never a destroyer like this before, his physique looks different, those gloves look small as hell (although perez' looked small too). its well known russia is corrupt as ****, only country that gives germany a good run for their money in that regard.
perhaps he just rededicated himself ad got in better shape after losing to wlad, spent time working on his technique and sitting down on his shots. but i wouldnt take that risk if i was wilders people. make him come to the US and ensure a fair fight. this new povetkin probably beats him though.Comment

I know Deontay Wilder is brave enough to fight Alexander Povetkin, either in the USA or in Russia.
But Al Haymon has been very protective of him. I wonder will Haymon have Wilder avoid his mandatory?
I'd love to see Povetkin-Wilder. I think they are both legit top heavyweights, probably the #2 and #3 best after Wladimir Klitschko.Comment

I think its worth the risk. Wilder got a lot of respect for the Stiverne fight but fights like Molina will do nothing for him. If he fights and beats Povetkin then he'd be considered a 100% legit fighter and there will be talk about the Klitschko fightComment
