Fight makes no sense from a business perspective. No way he makes more vs Geale than he would against GGG. There is a pretty good chance Geale beats him, but even if he wins, he just beat a guy coming off a KO loss. No way this makes more money than the Canelo fight he turned down, either. Then again, Cotto isn't the best at making business decisions. There was no real reason for him to fight Trout and that ended up backfiring on him. Sergio was the best business move he made because they knew he was done

see the problem is, the former 140 pounder is the lineal MW champion of the world.

unfortunatelly for the former 140 pounder, gennady golovkin is campaigining in the MW division.

what's the better way to determinate who's the best fighter of the MW division than a big unification fight beetwen golovkin (a belt holder) and cotto (the former 140 pounder who's holding the MW title hostage and defending it at catchweights)?

last sentence of your reply is as laughable as your avatar.

I would not consider Cotto the true lineal champ unless he beat GGG. Then again, as they say, you're not really a champion until you defend your belt. Let's see if he does it

Geale has a bad chin and even worse heart. Kirkland might not be a good fighter but he is better than rodriguez which Cotto fought not long ago. Cotto should man up and take his beating in the hands of GGG. That or relinquish his middleweight title.

Rank top 10 by basically everyone out there. This is a real fight for Cotto against another top 10 160 pounder.
                  @ 160. What's the catch weight again?
