      Does anyone think the ref waived off the fight prematurely? After the second knockdown, it looked like the ref automatically waived the fight? Is this what happened? Why didn't he give Perez the count?

          I said Povetkin would smash him. Someone tried to tell me Perez was a good fighter who could match it with Povetkin lol.

          Perez needs to retire. He lost it after the mago fight.

            I think it was a fair stoppage.

            A lot of refs would have stopped it after the first knockdown. When Perez got back up he was still rigid and barely lifted his hands in time. But it was so early in the fight he would have caught tons of flack for counting 10.

            So he gave him the benefit of the doubt but Perez went right back down. That was it.

              There's a big difference in class between Stiverne and Povetkin. It's not even close. Wilder also can't cover up and smother Povetkin like Klitschko could.

              What will also make things interesting is that Povetkin's promoter is clearly going to win any purse bid and force Wilder to come to Russia. This is the same guy who put up $17M for a Klitschko fight like it was nothing.

              It's a big test for Wilder. If he beats him though I think he'll silence all those doubters.
              You know what I think if they meet it will be a solid fight. I think that Wilder's chin will get tested out for sure and so will the Russians. But I have mixed feelings about the result kind of leaning towards Wilder.

                Can we cut the chase and hand Wlad the WBC crown.

                Fast forward this and make it official;

                Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World Wladimir Klitschko

                  Probably because he realized he shouldn't have let it continue after the first knockdown. Perez looked like a drunk at a bar after last call.

                    Easy for you to say. Perez is young and he doesn't have too much wear 'n tear on him. He's got a family to provide for; what's he gonna do if he doesn't box? Boxing is his livlihood

                    The ref waived the fight off before Perez hit the canvas for the second time. He didn't assess his condition and give Perez a chance to demonstrate he could or could not continue.

                    I think it was a bad call

                      I like Perez as a fighter. It took a lot of heart to keep fighting after the Magomed fight, and he has taken on some of the best in the division, win or loss. I don't think he trained well enough for this fight, but to his credit, he looked like he wanted to continue with Povetkin. The ref just wouldn't allow it.

                      I'd like to see him in there with someone like Szpilka, Andy Ruiz Jr., or Arreola.
