The ref waived the fight off before Perez hit the canvas for the second time. He didn't assess his condition and give Perez a chance to demonstrate he could or could not continue.

I think it was a bad call
Agreed. Same with the canelo fight. Kirkland was about to get up and ko the ginger. Damn hometown refs

In my opinion it is absolutely ridiculous for anyone to say that that was a bad stoppage. The only thing wrong with the stoppage is that it didn't happen after the first knockdown when Perez didn't even know what planet he was on.

Yea Perez did look like a drunken sailor after he got lit up the first time, I don't think he is making it out of round 1 if the ref let Perez attempt to continue on.

He was going to paw that jab out there again and Povetkin would have been forced to really drop the hammer to end it then. I don't see it ending any other way.

yea the ref could've given him the count and then assessed perez closer. although i don't disagree with the stoppage because perez looked seriously hurt/lost when he got up from the first KD and the way he stumbled into the second one. he wasn't making it out of that round.

Had povetkin to win but didn't see a 1st rd ko coming. I actually thought the leapai/charr fight wasn't bad. some no defence bombs were landed but both took them well.

Povetkin's recent run shows just how far above the rest of the division Wlad is. Povetkin will be a serious threat to Wilder................IF the rules are actually enforced and he has to face him.
