He's not entirely wrong, not at all in fact, but (apart from evaluating his own defense) he makes, in my opinion, some common mistakes.

Race is not the real, or most important issue.

In a plutocracy like the U.S. and in most of the " western world" , the color of one's skin doesn't really matter.

Of course being black doesn't normally help, but a Pole in the Netherlands, a Moroccan in Brussels , or a Pakistani in the UK won't fare much better as far as discrimination is concerned.

They'll exploit you , squeeze you like a lemon, treat you like a dog and you'll have to say thank you if they remember to pay you (less than the legal minumum ) at the end of the month.

They do think you are somewhat inferior, yes, but only if you are poor enough. Look how quick they are to kiss Russian or Saudi ass when they come with big money, while they are otherwise despised.

In short, it is about exploiting the poor, take advantage of them.

Historically black people in the US have been exploited more than most other racial groups, but it is because they were poor enough to be exploited, race was (and is) only an easy excuse to justify it, or make it seem OK.

People can deny it , but the fact is race / racism has played a huge part in boxing since the beginning and is still rampant today. Racial tension still sell just like it did when Jack Johnson was HW champ.
