  • Comments Thread For: Weights From Moscow: Povetkin 232.4, Perez 240.5

All fighters are weighed in and set for the loaded fight card Friday evening in Moscow, Russia.

Alexander Povetkin and Mike Perez meet in a bout to determine the next mandatory challenger for WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

Povetkin (28-1, 20KOs) weighed in at 232.4 lbs., the heaviest of his career. Perez (21-1-1, 13KOs) tipped the scales at 240.5 lbs., slightly less than the 242.25 he weighed for his points loss to Bryant Jennings last summer, but still well above his normal fighting weight of 230–235 lbs.

Also on the show are a pair of cruiserweight bouts, both of which feature late replacements. [Click Here To Read More]

why does perez weigh so much, he's a small guy, he never looks in shape, he looks like a cruiser compared to modern heavys

Any pictures? Seemed like Perez was training properly this time but he's coming in heavier than his last fight.

        diet and conditioning.

i'm guessing he drinks and eats a lot during his off season, doesn't run, and lifts weights some.

He trained properly this time. Obviously didn't do the diet part.

you want to see these two plebs jiggling around?

our bryant is an american sport reject, and he beat perez with several fewer years of boxing experience.

america's grace is the only reason these two shlubs are in the top 25.

deontay wilder is just some dude from alabama. foreigners feel threatened by this reality.

there are thousands of wilders playing college basketball and football today.

                we are all deontay wilder.

                    ffs Perez

Neither of these guys should be above 230. Povetkin is ok just over, but 240 for Perez? Madness.
