    This is fat:

that's really not a bulked up physique. this is a 240 lb guy who is supposed to be in world class shape and trim. 240 lb, trim weight lifters bulk up a lot more than that, particularly in the upper body. they're pretty rare.

you'd need to see his legs, hips, thighs, butt, to see where a guy who is built like that will put on most of his muscle.

perez eats too much, man. so do most HW. just watch him fade at the end of a fight if you don't believe me.

we need to stop making excuses for these guys. they are not in optimum shape. particularly the cuban big men have a tendency to go overboard when they get a taste of capitalist living.

perez should be 225 lbs. he was a grown man when he fought in the 201 division as an amateur.

i also have a hard time believing that perez is only 29, which is what the boxrec states. cuban / Caribbean athletes in the MLB, for instance, are notorious for doctoring their birth certificates to gain an advantage in athletics in their youth.

He's not in optimum shape obviously, I just wouldn't use the term "fat" to describe his physique. He has visible muscles while guys like Odlanier Solis were fat slobs. There have been plenty of heavyweights who carried extra fat along with muscle, who ended up being really good.

I doubt Perez will be one of them though, because he's probably not going to out-muscle a guy like Povetkin on the inside. He would have to move around and keep up a solid workrate for 12 rounds, which will probably be difficult due to carrying around 15-20 lbs of extra bulk.
