Comments Thread For: Roy Jones Jr: Pacquiao's Mistake Was Blaming Injury

Roy Jones was bought. His closing summary on what took place on May 2nd was beyond preposterous: Floyd came to fight, met Manny in the middle of the ring, Pacquiao had no answer etc. etc. If it were any other fighter, the entire commentary would have berated that running and holding style. Imagine if it was Amir Khan fighting Pacquiao like that. What would the commentary be like? Not the British commentary of course!
So, Roy, take a seat. You're in somebody's pocket! Pacquiao did have to provide an answer why he wasn't swinging more! And he still won the fight!

The fact that Roy knows it was an injury before stepping in the ring. Tells us Pac wasn't fighting at full strength. He really was nursing a shoulder pain throughout the fight.
To some, Pac should have postponed the fight. The thing is 5 years he has been chasing Floyd and to give Floyd an out or a excuse for this fight not to happen wasn't an option Pac is willing to take.
And besides, 3 weeks before he was diagnosed with severe rotator cuff tear, the doctor advised surgery. So if he was to under go surgery, he will have to postpone a Floyd fight for at least 1 year. I don't think boxing fans will like that much wait when it's been 5 years of struggle already. It's not like it was a 1 or 2 month postponement. Surgery was needed. It will take a year. Pac was left to manup with all the circumstances that was in front of him.
The world was watching. Tickets were sold, celebrity booked there flights. Networks from around the world have close the deals for satellite coverage. There was no one stopping this train. Pac had no choice but to manup.
Roy was disappointed coz the viewers purchased a product that they expected to be @ 100%. That is understandable.
This only shows FLoyd won against a handicapped Pac who was @ the most 50% of his capability knowing his rotator cuff injury on his right shoulder prevented pac from using his right hand effectively.. Not to mention the unprecedented 13x blood drawn in a span of 2 months. While an average olympianis tested 3x in a year pac had to be blood drawn 13x in a window of 2 months. Red flag. Nsac, confiscating his vitamins and water before the fight, when obviously there was ped testing already and cheating wont happen with usada testing in place. Pac wasnt treated right. Pac was being treated unjustly and he felt like speaking up.. I can understand were he was coming from.
But in all this drama he still showed how great he was. He handled Floyd with one hand and to many people saw him winning. That's atg material right there.
excuses

damn it must suck you wake up being lame
how many losses on pacquiao resume? might want to start rooting for somebody else

Hey Jones I know you been hit in the head to many times do you recall ? Floyd said he was going to come out strong his dad said they were going to stop Manny. This means they knew of the injury but Floyd failed to deliver an action fight and fought a bore as usual

Other than Roy being black, why else do you think Floyd paid him to give that opinion of the fight? Had Manny thrown more punches do you think Roy would have said the same thing?

It is clear that Jones has had financial problems in the past and that is why he continues to fight. I think it is a good possibility that Haymon paid some of those debts off. But the funny thing is that all the Showtime guys (Paulie, Bernstein etc.) were backing their guy and Jones and even Lampley switched sides and were biased for Mayweather. HBO should really re-think if they should re-hire Jones in all honesty. Look at Paulie who is obviously getting a crap load of money under the table from Haymon to go after Pac at all costs and to make Floyd look like a God. The funny thing is when you look at the foreign feeds of the fight (as national broadcasts paid for rights to show the fight) the fight was scored quite differently. Three examples: the Peru broadcast had the fight 114-114, the Colombian had it 115 - 114 Mayweather and the Dominican feed had it 114-114. Also their compubox feeds were much closer. Obviously, these national contexts do not have any biases. I just feel Pacquiao got screwed. He did not get a fair shake. It was a close fight that is all that I am saying. The HBO and Showtime crew made Pacquiao out to seem as though he was some kind of scrub which obviously he wasn't. To be clear I think the fight could have been scored 6-6, 7-5, or 7-5. the 10-2 or even 8-4 cards were greatly biased. Were we expecting Pacquiao to get in the ring and mop the floor with Floyd? I think the sad thing is that before the bell rang the commentators did not perceive the combatants as equals. This was the travesty of the fight of the century in my opinion.

Funny thing is Pac fans loved Roy when he called Floyd boring but now his comments are racial and bias cause he's calling Pac on his BS.
