Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KO's) has an added layer of protection as he enters the first defense of his WBC middleweight title against former three time world champion Daniel Geale (31-3, 16 KO's) of Australia on June 6, 2015 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The fight will be televised live.
According to Geale's promoter, Gary Shaw, the Cotto side has a rematch clause in place. If Geale wins, and then Cotto exercises that clause - the two of them would meet again.
An upset win would throw a wrench in the plans of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, who hopes to fight Cotto in the fall, and Cotto's mandatory challenger Gennady "GGG" Golovkin.
