  • Wladimir Klitschko vs. Chris Byrd II

    Interesting article found here: http://www.sport1.de/coremedia/gener..._3F_20mel.html

    Roughly translated into English:
Vladimir Klitschko should receive a new WM chance. The ex-champion should fight obviously on the 30th April in Düsseldorf against IBF world champion Chris Byrd.

Klitschko had beaten Byrd in 2000 after points and had protected itself with it the WBO title which he lost in 2003 to Corrie Sanders.

The possibility for this fight has presented itself to the Klitschko brothers by a cooperation with Promoter Don King. With a victory Klitschkos King would receive the right-hand side in the next Klitschko-Fights.

I agree, but he better focus on Rahman who poses a real threat, Byrd does not imo.

Should be Vitali-Byrd II. I don't recognize VK as champion until he settles that score.

...I believe it is definitely about Wlad and not Vitali. Wlad is ranked 6th in the IBF and most of the guys in front of him are commited to other things. If he made a deal with King then I could see it happening. He wouldn't have to worry about King poisoning him if he gives him options.

You are mixing the two brothers. Vitaliy is the one who is fighting Rahman, I think the article is talking about the little brother - Wladimir. If that's the case, it would be great, I would love to see Wladimir vs. Byrd II if Wladimir gets his head on straight.

And considering that the number 1 spot in the IBF is not ranked, its really more like he's 5th. And I thought it was idiotic for Vitali to fight Rahman and thus risking to let King have all four belts, but if it meant that Wlad would get a shot, then it would make a lot more sense to have Vitali/Rahman.

Yeah, you're right. I saw Wlad spelled with the V and had a brain fart.

WK by UD or late KO. However, first guy w/ popwer WK would fight in a defence he probably get starched, but hey! At least they'll achieve they're dream (the K bros) for a short time. I'll believe this when I see an official annoucement, but it's sounding like Wlad signed w/da devil to get a match and DK knows WK would be a cash cow.
