as others have said, if you're not hungry in the prospect phase of your career, how the hell are we to expect you to be hungry when you make a million bucks a fight and are on HBO / showtime twice a year.

humberto soto was a good little fighter. he's at the very end of a 75+ fight career. he's on borrowed time. gomez wasted a lot of the little time he's got left.

gomez is going to have to move freaking mountains before i give a f#ck about him.

He's extremely talented and has all the tools to be star hopefully this was the wake up call he needed.

Also Roach is a great trainer but this kid might need a trainer who doesn't have such a huge roster of fighters and all the commitments that Roach has.

he's been like this for a long time, gomez.

he almost quit boxing after he signed his first six figure contract with GBP. that's what i've heard, anyway.

I think all that weight is from partying, with the signing bonus GBP gave him, Im sure hes living the life in LA. If he stood in the gym and kept fighting actively, 140 would be easy to make, hes not some tall large framed guy looking for a size advantage. I bet most of that weight is from beer and the munchies...

Good to hear he's been in the gym regularly, and that he sparred with Miguel Cotto.

Gomez is a very good prospect, so hopefully he gets focused.

i saw gomez a few times and thought he was great, was excited to see him....found out about his bs and don't give a damn when he fights, if a fighter can't be disciplined in his own hometown, can't stay outta prison, and likes to drink alcohol even though there's a lot of money to be made just quit prizefighting and become a sparring partner, no trainer has to tell a fighter when to run, when to go to the gym, give him a stern talkin about staying motivated or nothing like that, soon he'll get fed to a disciplined fighter and get ktfo like kirkland

Maybe seeing Los Angeles go crazy for GGG is motivation of what could be for him as well since he is from Los Angeles! I'm still a fan, I hope/think he learned his lesson.

Damn right it would. Roach is too busy for an up and comer like Gomez.

Gomez shouldn't try to drain down to 140 anymore. 147 is where he needs to be.
