Why? Canelo is a MW. He fights at 155. Anything about 154 is considered the next division up. So technically 155-160 is MW. He's just too scared to take the jump even though he can't make 154.

And thats not just a dig at Canelo. I'd like to see GGG go test himself at 168 too because he can't get the names at 160.

Canelo is clearly not a middleweight, yet.

155 is a JMW, who came in 1lb over.

If Canelos handlers keep making smart decisions, like Golovkins handlers are doing, then that fight is at least 12-18 months away yet.

Canelo will likely be a real middleweight by then, and he will face Golovkin in a "passing of the torch" fight at 158-160.

They need to announce this fight for September already!!!!!!!!! Even if its at the 160 pound limit it shouldn't matter to Canelo cause he doesn't have to change anything, he can come in at the same weight he's been fighting and win. If anything it will benefit Canelo that the fight is at 160 because it will be less water weight to cut so he will be better hydrated.

Or, Canelo may not give a flying-fat-fcuk about an immediate demand for entetainment from casual fans...... and he may wait until after he has officially moved up to 160 and had a couple lower-tier fights under his belt..... then he would be catching an older Golovkin who will have built more of a name for himself by then.
