Comments Thread For: Khan Tells De La Hoya: Canelo Would Beat Golovkin

British superstar Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs) was not overly impressed with Saturday's big win by IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs), who knocked out Willie Monroe Jr. (19-2, 6 KOs) in six rounds.

After the fight, Golovkin called for matches with Miguel Cotto and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Canelo's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, is open to the idea of making a fight with Golovkin but not until some point in the future. Canelo says he is not yet ready to move up to 160-pounds, but he's been fighting at 155-pounds for his last three ring appearances.

so sick of this ****. these guys are businessmen out for the $ over any pride and glory. They can still turn over plenty of $, fighting the best at the right time. But its not enough and they are too greedy..

No hate from me, dudes are getting rich af and no one without that kind of money at stake can say why we would do in this situation...But its just sad that we dont get the great fights we used too. It spins me out, like where is all this money and demand coming from..when its obvious these matches are all just carefully picked and set up...its like war with rubber bullets. Damn casuals are ****** mfers.

they will wait 3-4 years for GGG, when he looks as vulnerable as he ever has.

and canelo not ready for 160... pffft. i saw a photo of him in training camp standing next to a young pro fighter who I've seen around at tournaments, so i roughly know how big he is. he's 5''8/9 and fights at 154. Canelo was the same height as him, with way bigger arms and an immensely thicker back and chest. He looked a weight division heavier for sure.

Canelos been fighting at 155, and he was uncomfortable at 152 for floyd...fcuk outta here oscar the kids ready for 160. Canelo-Cotto (assuming he beats geale) so you can all cash out, then the winner has to earn his title of being a fighter and square off with GGG.

It is apparent that GGG much prefers to stalk, and isn't as comfortable when a guys in his face making it a dogfight. He likes time and tricks to launch his shots. But get in close, and your right in the bomb zone so your jaw better be ready for a chin check of the highest order.

Let's say that is true (which I don't necessarily agree) what 160 can stand in front of GGG, trade with him and come out on top?

We seen he can take a punch, and we seen what happens when fighter do stay in front of him.

He's big and strong at 160, guys at 154 are not ready for that power and accuracy.
