I don't think GGG needs to go up to 168, I think he needs to stay right there where he's at 160, capture all the title's there and defend them. Ward needs to do the same at 168. When the time is right maybe it can happen later down the line.

And "everybody else" includes Andre Ward, which is actually what Loefler is saying. The thread title is literally true. Even if GGG did it for free, there would not be enough money in this fight right now to pay Ward's wages alone. If he wants $2million for a tune up, how much do you think he would want for fighting GGG?

Golovkin's promoter, Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, likes the idea of facing Ward - but also feels there is not enough money in the fight, as of this moment, to make it happen in the near future.

Ward has been inactive since November 2013. He makes his return on June 20th against Paul Smith - at a catch-weight of 172-pounds.

What Loeffler is saying is that $1.5 million was enough to fight Willie Munroe Jr. or Rubio or any other stiff that Golovkin has fought on HBO. Also, $2 million was enough to get him in the ring in a PPV contest against Julio Caesar Chavez Jr. at 168. However, GGG needs two or three times that much if he is going to get in the ring and get his ass kicked by Ward.

He is also saying that Ward would want as much as GGG.

I guess that makes Andre a fcuking gutless coward too eh?

The only certified gutless coward in boxing right now is Miguel 'Clucko' Cotto. He will not fight GGG for ANY amount of money. Won't even sign a winner fights GGG guarantee because he is afraid he might win the fight.

By the way... 2 million may well be enough to get GGG in the ring with Ward, but Ward would be asking for 10 and he actually deserves about .5 .

I don't blame Golovkin. Ward is now in the position of needing to reestablish his brand.

                Aaaah.....

How could Ward possibly compete with the PPV legend that is Gennady Golovkin.

                Excuse #7 duly noted ^^

But somehow, I dont think the world actually forget that Ward is likely the most well-rounded fighter in the game today.

That sounds like an Able Sanchez type excuse LOL

The excuses given by Golovkin to duck..... ooops, I mean..... " dismiss ", a Ward fight..... are fkn funny considering that.....

..... it is highly unlikely that Golovkin could beat Ward

                    • Ward can't draw flies to a mule turd but wants to make 4 million a fight. Like many of you guys say, it's a business. Well damn, sorry Ward, maybe you should have been active over the last 4 years instead of stabbing your promoter in the back.
