The only fighters of memory who have actually done so are light fisted fighters and Ouma (which he has a reasoning for partially), do you believe that's a coincidence?
He's never really fought a hard puncher so it's hard to say.

He's barely fought any good fighters so it's hard in general to judge and he gets hit abit even at the level he's fighting.

He doesn't get hit consistently because he's about 10 levels above everyone he faces but even still it's clear he doesn't have a good defense.

I do however pay more attention to the other fighters that are below and above him in the ratings (Golovkin), and I can say he is more defensively responsible (when he wants to be) than those below him.

Am I saying he's Mayweather? No. I'm just saying his defense, especially for his style, is good. Not amazing, but good.
Well I do watch Santa Cruz and his defense is terrible.

If I show those stats and say it's 22% and he gets hit less than Ward, Pacquaio and Lara according to compubox to somehow prove he has a good defense?

Because that's what you just did with Golovkin.

Well, whatever, agree to disagree then. Personally for someone so offensively orientated I'd say it's clear as day to see his defense. The Stevens fight is a good example, uses elbows and forearms to parry a lot, pivots with punches, lifts his shoulder when opponents are hooking and consistently avoids opponents body shots with bent over stance. Much of this can be seen throughout his career.

If you wanna argue his defense may not be good in the future against greater opposition, go for it, that's viable.

He really hasn't fought too many "big punchers." Curtis Stevens? I guess. And he landed a lot more than I expected when he did throw. I don't buy into the notion that GGG discards defense when he's faced with a non-big puncher.

Again, you use one example out of over 10 to try and enforce your point, not exactly great, is it? I could quite easily go ahead and bring up the fact that it correctly puts Lara, Mayweather and Rigo on top defensively, in the correct order. Does it prove it's correct? Nah, but it shows a trend against current opposition, which most people would agree with. The same rings true for all on the list besides Cruz, which again I don't bother watching him.

Can you name me a fight where Golovkins defence hasn't looked good besides Ouma and the light punchers Murray and Willie?

I'm saying Golovkin's current defense seems fine. Will it be in the future against greater opponents? I don't know, I can't tell the future.

It's fine if you don't buy it, but then you'll have no problem finding me other fights besides the ones I listed where he shows a consistently weak defense.

Don't try to frame my words a certain way to create a strawman's argument. Monroe tagged him clean often last night. So did Murray. Ouma. Your counter was that he discards good defense against opponents he doesn't feel threatened by. Well, he hasn't fought enough big punchers for me to agree with that assessment. What I can tell you is that a B- fighter with little experience at this level landed way too many punches and it's been a theme with opponents who survive the early onslaught.

So you've listed 3 fighters, out of like 30, who his defense hasn't looked good against.

I could bring up how Maidana made Mayweather look bad in the first fight, does that make Mayweathers defense overall bad? Of course not. I'm of course assuming that he discards defense against weaker hitters, because that appears to be a trend in those fights and the fact he's stated that's what he does post fight?

You say it's a theme with opponents who survive the early onslaught, any examples of that besides Murray, Ouma and Monroe?

If his defense was bad he'd be Ruslan, Chavez Jr or Rios, can we stop exaggerating? I'm not saying his defense is great, just good, moreso for his style and approach.

Because Santa Cruz being there on the list on or the list at all proves the list is a load of crap.

What's the difference between me using the list to argue Santa Cruz has a good defense and you using it to say Golvokin has a good defense?

Using it to say anyone had a good defense is ******.

Because the only fighter on that list who you have a quarrel with statistically appears to be Cruz. So out of over 10 people you've got 1 who you disagree with. I've got the rest who appear to be, based of the eye test, in relatively the correct position.

Cruz also fights garbage cans with nothing to their name, I don't think it's difficult to have a low opponent connect percentage when you're a fighter that throws 90 punches a round against fighters of no merit.
