  • I'm still trying to figure out why people here don't want or make excuses why certain fighters shouldn't fight other certain fighters.

      3. Floyd was more aggressive fighting guys his size at the lower weights. It wasn't until he moved up when he had to start fighting smarter because he was taking on bigger guts with more power.

So my point is, let's see how exciting GGG is fighting at a 15 pound weight disadvantage like Floyd did vs Canelo.
      1. Cotto holds a title at 160, that's NOT 147...Canelo is 154-160, so what welter are you referring to?
      2. Floyd holds a title at 154....GGG offered to MOVE DOWN (weight drain, as some people like to make the excuse for) to fight him, since Floyd proved his "greatness" once by moving up to 154 and obtain a title there, how about proving it yet again and taking GGG's challenge?
      3. Sure, did he not offer to fight Froch, who is bigger than him?...I'd like to see him in the ring with bigger opponents as well since he's been rumored to KO light heavies during sparring, but nobody wants to fight the guy!..Lara? HBO doesn't want him (Haymon), even if GGG agrees, no fight...Ward? REALLY? remember he was tied up in court with the now deceased Goosen, couldn't get a fight with anybody...now that he is free from that battle, has he made any mention of fighting GGG?

Ok, serious question here. Many people with at least half a boxing brain consider Sugar Ray Robinson to be the best boxer that ever lived. SRR moved up from Welterweight (147lbs) to Middleweight (160lbs), dominating both weight classes for years. He then challenged himself by moving up to Light-Heavyweight, or 175lbs, and faced the Lineal Champion, as they didn't have fragmented titles back then. He was defeated by HOFer Joey Maxim, as he was unsuccessful in his challenge, but he still took on the challenge.

Let's do some math: 175lbs-147lbs = 28lbs. Sugar Ray Robinson moved up 28lbs from his original championship weight to challenge himself against the best.

Floyd Mayweather won his first title at 130lbs. Him moving up to Middleweight, even at a catchweight of 158lbs, would equal SRRs feat in terms of weight jumping, but he would have to face GGG to equal the feat in terms of fighting the best in the division.

Many FM d#ckr#ders on this site like to boast about how he is "TBE," which states that he is better than anybody before him, so why is it that you all have such a problem with him moving up to face GGG at even 154lbs? Even that still wouldn't even match SRRs jump in weight and would pale in comparison to fighting a HOFer (since GGG fights nothing but bums, right?) in doing so. To come close to matching SRRs attempt at further greatness, FM would have to jump up to Middleweight and face GGG there! That's what it is, period.

If he is "TBE," why is this such a problem for all of you fanboys?! It's certainly something he can do that nobody can match, being the "TBE," right?

        Save the b#lls##t excuses like
        1. GGG is not a draw
        2. Boxing is a business first
        3. GGG doesn't call the shots, etc.
        4. FM would beat him anyway so why bother
        5. You just called us out and we will dodge your question any way we can

Again, if he is "TBE," why is this such a problem for all of you fanboys?!?!?!?!
Im all for the fight. You say you are...careful what you wish for bcuz you just might get it. So ill ask, Do you REALLY want the fight??? Or would you like to claim "Floyds ducking GGG"? Dont lie to yourself either

GGG will concede to all the petty demands and give up the lionshare. "GGG don't sell" - BULLSHIT. He is one of the next biggest stars. "One dimensional, no skillz" - BULLSHIT! AM record of 345-5.. just take a moment and think about those numbers, those fights, for a second..
look, i like GGG and i can see why he has fans. Look at it this way, Chris Algieri has a better reseme than GGG!! for the record, im all for a GGG-Floyd fight..ill ask, do you really want that fight though??? Or would you rather Floyd fight someone else so you claim "floyds ducking"??

How ****** would anybody sound saying Floyd beat Pacquiao the other night because he outweighed him on fight night?

Go do your homework and understand why weigh-ins were moved to the day before in the first place. That rips your whole "160 basically meant 160" argument out the window!
Yeah because one lazy ass fighter who didn't make weight got the super fight of that time cancelled.

They still fight by completely different standards.

Your post has absolutely nothing to address the point except

"But but 10 pounds is nothing doe..."

Floyd isn't a real 154 fighter. Even his biggest fans will tell you that's not his weight class. He only goes there for big money fights which GGG is not. All I see is excuses for not wanting to see GGG challenged.

Which is oddly enough what they accuse Floyd and his fans of. Like literally in the same breath, I have to give them credit for their audacity though.

It's level of expectation. Floyd destroyed Willie Monroe, Martin Murray, Daniel Geale and Matthew Macklin level opposition in his lower weight classes as well. Look at his fights with Gatti, Sharmba Mitchell, Henry Bruseles, Philip Ndou, etc. He even destroyed high level opponents like Corrales in spectacular fashion. But when he's in the ring with other top level fighters like Pac, Cotto, Canelo, Oscar, etc., he's fighting smarter because those guys can make you pay for your mistakes.

Now that he's 38, with brittle hands and fighting guys with sizeable weight advantages he has to be smarter and limit the risks and preserve his body for as long as he can. I'm sure when GGG gets up there in age and is fighting much bigger guys that his KO % will drastically start to come down.

No doubt about that, and if Golovkin didn't adjust similarly he wouldn't really find success at least eventually.

When he goes up it is highly likely his effectiveness goes down, but that is part of seeing how good a guy is if they can handle that sort of thing. It isn't the only way to greatness, but hanging out will almost always get a guy **** until they actually get to quality fights. I always hear Hagler and B-Hop brought up in relation to Golovkin, but both those guy were not appreciated until much later on after they got big fights and took plenty of **** (and Hagler didn't even have a 168 pound class option until the end).
