It really says a lot about this era of boxing when a guy with a championship belt fights C and D-class competition 90 percent of the time. I am not just talking about Wilder. I am also talking about guys like Leo Santa Cruz, Canelo Alvarez, GGG. Lomachenko, Adonis Stevenson and others.
People on this site love to hate on Floyd Mayweather. However, no one can dispute the fact (although many will try) that Mayweather has fought nothing but world champions and top 5 division opponents or P4P opponents since 2006, while world champions like Wilder, Santa Cruz, GGG, Stevenson and Alvarez are fighting glorified sparring partners.
It looks like Wilder is going to take the path of Julio Caesar Chavez Sr. and Canelo Alvarez and only fight three quality opponents in a 100-fight career.
Although for the most part I agree. I think heavyweights should get a lil bit of a pass. The landscape is just thin as hell. Not much out there to get excited about.
