Any fighters come to mind when you hear the term "unfulfilled potential"?

Yeah but at least he beat him, twice.
    Pavlik lost.
    Winky Lost.
    pascal lost.
    cloud lost.
    Trinidad lost.
    tarver lost.

All guys who were never the same.

Taylor beat him twice to be unified champ and had a few more fights including a draw with Wright before he was KOd by Pavlik.
Not saying he couldn't be more but his potential wasnt as unfulfilled as others.

      James Toney

If he'd been able to show any true commitment to the sport of boxing, he would've likely had top runs from middleweight all the way to heavyweight, dominating most fighters on his skill/craft.

Toney's lack of commitment to weight management killed what could've been an all-time great career. (By the time 1994 came around, Toney was already slipping, from torturing his body in all of those massive weight cuts; if he'd taken better care of his body, he would've filled out at 160, filled out at 168, filled out at 175 for a long run, hung around at cruiserweight for a run after that, and then ended his run as a heavyweight (Holyfield was 6'2 and never weighed even 215 for a fight, so a fit Toney should've been able to fight 215-220, and not 245).

Taking better care of the body likely leads to taking less damage in the ring, keeping Toney physically sound (slurred speech is definitely noticeable) far longer into his career.

Archie Moore fought for nearly 30 years as a professional, and left with his faculties

          Prince Naseem Hamed.

Sure, he's being inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.

Sure, over here in Britain at least he's considered to be great but then again people like to hype up one of their own.

He was certainly good. He could have been great.

            Joan Guzman and Chad Dawson

Kinda ironic that both was with Mayweather Sr and became world champions with him. After they left him it went all down hill after that. Guzman couldn't make wait and Dawson got to the Top and was one of the best P4P Fighters and just stopped working hard

AB - should have never went to welterweight
Kirkland - way too inactive, wasted prime years on the shelf
Ward - also way too inactive, can't make 168 no more
Arreola - fought Klitchko too soon

Great call. He was excellent coming up.

He's got tons of heart man, he's just been brutally knocked out a few times. I actually don't think he belongs on the list, he had a great career. His résumé is stacked.

                  Edwin Valero.

Shame what happened but it would have been nice to know what he was truly made of.

                    CHavez Jr.

Has the Chin, the power, and the fanbase to be to be great for the sport....he also could care less.

Andrew Golota could have been good but his mental demons were the worst I've seen.

I agree that Broner could be on that path, his management (and lack of defense) might be his doom though.

                    Marvis Frazi.....hahahahahahaha
