Lomachenko v Walters unification planned for October

According to Lomachenko's manager Egis Klimas, the Featherweight unification that we all want to see against 'The Axe Man' Walters will happen at some point in October this year.

    From Lomachenko's Facebook page:

WBO world featherweight champion Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko intends to hold a unification bout. It is planned that he will enter the ring in October, Egis Klimas told "R-Sport".

"The contract we have until the end of the year is to have one more fight - the plan for that is sometime in October. The promoter and television say that it makes sense to meet with Jamaican boxer Nicholas Walters. We look forward to as carry out this battle with Walters. Vasyl wants to unite the titles and we will make a start on this, "- said Klimas by phone.

After the fight with Rodriguez media reported that the Ukrainian injured his right hand in a fight.
"Vasyl had nice fight. All were satisfied by the Vasyl fight, the audience got a lot of good feelings from his match. As for his hands, he just hits hard - like a horse hoof ... We went to the doctor, took pictures - just bruises, which are on any boxer. No fractures or cracks, just boxing-beaten hands. He feels great "- said Klimas.

According to the manager, Lomachenko will rest and recover for about a month. "Lomachenko went home to Ukraine a couple of days after the fight. He's there now resting at home (for serious training) in the near future does not plan to come back. I think he will rest somewhere until mid-June," - he added.

    EDIT AS OF 19/05/2015

Bob Arum wants to stage Vasyl Lomachenko-Nicholas Walters in fall
LOS ANGELES Bob Arum promotes the two best featherweights in the world and he's not going to let this one marinate.
The Top Rank CEO told USA TODAY Sports on Monday that he wants to pit Nicholas Walters against Vasyl Lomachenko in the fall, provided the Jamaican gets past his June 13 bout with Miguel Marriaga. Arum said he would considering holding the fight outside the country and listed the Middle East as a possibility.

Great to know it's on the agenda. But that's as far as it goes for now.

This is shaping up to be a great year if it happens.

Walters better do this now before Lomachenko gains more experience and is too good for him.

I agree. Right now I have it as an even fight.

I still say they are pushing him much too hard too soon. Lomachenko is the goods and that is the fight people want but Lomachenko still has a lot of room for growth.

I like to see guys reach their potential, and I just feel how Lomachenko is getting moved is really selling his long term for short term gain. Which is to me not how you handle someone with the goods, because those goods can be lost pretty easy.

I don't see any reason why it won't happen. Both parties seem keen, they share the same promoter, and it's a good money fight and should suit both parties.

I know Lomachenko has hurt his hand in his last two fights, but I don't like that he is already turning into a 2-fight a year fighter. He should be fighting 3 or 4 times a year right now. Loma learns when he is in the ring, so why keep him so inactive. Keep him active right now that you can, obviously once his career advances he'll only fight 2 or 3 times but right now he needs to gain experience.

I like this fight a lot though! The only thing that worries me about Walters is that power! We still don't know how good Loma's chin is, I've never seen him hurt but he has never been there with someone with Walter's power. I want to see how Loma neutralizes that power.
