Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is looking to return on September 12th, and he won't step aside if Floyd Mayweather Jr. intends to fight on the date as well. Canelo is contracted to HBO, while Mayweather still has one fight remaining on his contract with Showtime.
Canelo had planned to fight on May 2nd, but moved to May 9th after Mayweather reached an agreement to face Manny Pacquiao on the date. The fight broke pay-per-view records with a 4.4 million buyrate. Canelo drew a huge television rating on HBO with a third round knockout of James Kirkland.
Mayweather says that he wants to return in September as the final fight for his career. He left the door open for a possible future fight in 2016 when telling reporters "I'm only human, I change my mind."
