Comments Thread For: Alexander Dimitrenko Comes Back on 5/21 in Brooklyn

Former European heavyweight champion and late 00’s fringe contender Alexander Dimitrenko will return into action for the first time in over two years on May 21 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. The towering (6’7’’) Ukrainian, still only 32, will test his skills against veteran journeyman Taurus Sykes (25-8-1, 7 KOs).

The bout will most probably be a part of another heavyweight collision between local hero Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller (12-0-1, 10 KOs) and Damon McReary (15-4, 11 KOs). It is to be noted that the latter bout is still listed to take place on June 4 by the BoxRec.

He looked promising early in his career but I'm not sure he ever recovered from the chambers & pulev losses...

Ukrainian migration into Brooklyn continues. He's probably too dangerous for Wilder though.

He's not Ukrainian and never was, despite having one time Ukrainian passport.

Interesting that he's fighting in Brooklyn in what would be his first fight in the U.S. Is he living and training in the U.S.? We've seen numerous East European boxers such as Glazkov, Ibragimov, Adamek come to the U.S. to stage their careers.

Dimitrenko could provide some good rounds for the likes of Joshua and Parker, this is the type of opponent Tyson Fury should have sought out.

I'm looking forward to see him getting back amongst it. I doubt he will compete in any meaningful fight/eliminator but he has a little to offer, depending on his shape upon return.
