Thurman isn't cleared, or at least wasn't cleared to start sparring until a certain point, the June date was never a realistic one.

the Maidana ducking Thurman debate has been debated far too long, we know he "ducked" but it made sense back then after a piss poor performance, plus the Karass fight got him more money (Thurman himself doesn't even consider it a duck, its all business as he calls it), if he ducks from now on its a bad move, i hope it happens at some point, maidana vs Thurman is guaranteed excitement.

Every situation isn't the same in boxing. At this point in Thurman's career, a Porter fight would be a step backwards. Had Porter beat Brook, then we could make a case for Thurman ducking him. But Thurman is in line for a bigger name after beating Guerrero

I actually don't really agree. I feel like Thurman would use his legs and just circle around Maidana all night, picking him off in spots and potentially hurting him after frustrating the hell out of him. I do see the fight getting made, but I think of it as Al cashing Chino out now that he already used him as a Floyd opponent. It's time to build up the next. Styles make fights. Thurman and Khan is a 50/50 fight. Maidana and Khan rematch is a pretty even fight. Thurman Maidana isn't. Porter's athleticism will spell more trouble for Thurman than Maidana would.

Maidana would get to him at some point, he will make it a fire fight at some point. Keith either weathers the storm and wins a decision/possible stoppage but unlikely or he gets hurt, dropped and then he gets stopped or outworked. I'd make Thurman the fav 60/40, early rounds would be key, first 4 or 5 rounds and Maidana would probably have to hurt him early.

I can see Thurman dropping maidana, but i know Maidana can get up and actually fight even harder when he gets up, Thurman is untested in this regard, i don't know for sure if Thurman could get up and still win, or if would tire and get stopped. This would be a real test for him but we all can't share the same opinion, would be boring if we did.

I don't think Dan likes the hype some punchers get, he goes off on Golovkin and Kovalev too.

Thurman is quality imo, Porter is a tough style for him though.

fair prediction/assessment. for me when I think it over in my mind I'm seeing the movement of Thurman just being too much for Chino. I think he'd stink out the joint and win fairly easily. Maidana's always dangerous but Thurman will do what he thinks is best to win...become Run Time essentially. I see it more as an 80/20 fight.

I can remember a video with Kenny Porter (Shawn's dad/trainer) saying something to the effect that they've sparred Thurman countless times and if he doesn't want a fight they know exactly why... In other words they've worked him in sparring quite a few times... Who knows if it's true but not many people lie about sparring sessions as it's something that's easily verifiable as there's always a bunch of people in the gym. If someone was lying they would get shut down quick.
