See that's the problem with the fans mentality these days and it seeps into the fighters/promoters. A loss nowadays is almost a death sentence to most fighters. That's why you see guys take on a string of tune ups then maybe just maybe they'll take on a tough top guy. The best should fight the best as often as they can. Who care's if "one of these slick brothas has to take an L"? There's always a risk in losing when you step in the ring, might as well put it on the line against worthy opposition. A loss shouldn't be the end to a young fighters career. No shame in losing to another good fighter.

    • Porter is not making 144 and still operating at 100%. He is a big welterweight, he's going to be drained.

Still think a drained Porter beats Broner's ass though.

      • A pretty good fight, that doesn't really make much sense for PBC.

And, so Thurman is ducking Porter? LMAO, Haymons venture is sure to fail if his own fighters can veto fights. He has enough trouble as it is creating decent fights.

        • good fight but Porter is NOT gonna make 144 without suffering on fight night!!...Broner taking Porter to Drained City with this CW ish smh

I like Porter...last year at the Boxing Expo in Vegas I told him he's gonna beat a big name and people will forget about his lost to KB...real talk!!...I'm in the neutral zone on this one though...may the best man from Ohio win!!

          • I'd actually give Broner a chance here. Porter relies on his strength to overwhelm guys on the inside, he's NOT a good inside fighter. Porter will be weak and lethargic at 144, so I wouldn't be surprised if Broner won a close decision as long as he keeps his hands and feet moving.

            • If Porter has any life in him he'll be trying to barge his way in all night. I can't see how Broner deals with that. He's looked uncomfortable on the back foot against much smaller men than Porter, and I don't think he has the sort of power that's going to make Porter tentative.

Broner has to find some way to keep Porter on the outside. Maybe the rehydration limit does that for him. It's not easy to see how he manages it otherwise.

              • I like this fight but...

Uncle Al is draining Porter to give AB an edge.

These catch weights are killing boxing.

AB could make 147 a lot easier than Porter makes 144.

Don't sound too good to me.

And can only rehydrate to 55?

Yea, I don't like the sound of this.
