I agree Nelo looked like Crap. But that fight Floyd didn't run. He moved, he used timing, accuracy and tore Canelo apart. That too me is worth watching. That is boxing skill. Against Lara all Lara did was run. Remwatch both fights. You'll see the difference and you'll see why most have no interest in watching him fight.

And In the process of trying to make GGG look bad, he makes himself look bad from an entertainment standpoint and takes the life out of the fight because in order to make GGG look bad he will need to avoid engaging and make GGG chase him around the ring while he runs.
Not my cup of tea but hey, different strokes for different folks.
Now networks give opportunities to guys that "lose well" even though they can't win a fight. They disincentivize winning which should be a concern for every fan.
The fight would be entertaining so long as GGG kept fighting his style. He'd either eventually KO Lara late (like Chavez/Taylor) or he gets caught late or loses a decision.
The only way it isn't entertaining is if GGG stops punching because he can't cut off the ring or is tired of eating counters. That ain't Lara's fault.Last edited by The Big Dunn; 05-11-2015, 10:13 AM.Comment

yes, great post. no reason not to make fight other than the politics.Comment

Your opinion is fine, but it could be wrong. GGG is no different than any other fighter-prove you can beat any style by doing it in the ring.
Given that GGG can't find any quality opponents to fight him, It doesn't make sense to not fight Lara. If he had quality MW's wanting to fight him, well then you'd have a more valid point IMO.
I think you mean you'd love HBO to change their stance and let Haymon fighters fight on the network and not have a policy of letting them fight on HBO "only if the price is right".
Lara is a very affordable opponent so it shouldn't be an issue either way.Comment

Boxing is a sport. In sports, winning and losing matters most. Not entertainment. That's part of the problem. Used to be you won fights and got better fights-hence guys learned all aspects of the sport so they had the best chance to win.

Boxing will always be sport that thrives mainly off of entertainment. Its not like any other sport where the only thing that matters to the fans is if their team wins, and if its a barnburner of a game then its a plus.Comment

No, I meant exactly what I said. HBO has offered Haymon fighters chances a couple times now, never happened. It seems PBC fighters are not going to be on HBO anytime soon. But if there is anyway they can make it happen they should, regardless of if it's a mismatch or not.
When will the price ever be right for both sides? I'm guessing never. SO its a defacto ban. Now with PBC, I think it's much more difficult.
Hopefully, fight will get made. If I'm GGG, Lara is a good test for his "dream fight".Comment
