He has the tools, the heart, the power, athleticism, and I doubt he is just boxing in his free time putting off some novel. Why not get a world renowned trainer to morph you into a technically sound fighter? Sure his chin is suspect and can be tapped but the same can be said for Lara and Trout. Power can only carry you so far. Kirkland is too old if anything its a wonder he has gotten as far as he has.


He has no jab, no footwork or head movement among many other things. Even if you could improve him his chin will always hold him back.

You just have to look at the state of 154 right now. Sure a few years down the line this mosh pit of elite welters will probably be fighting at Jr middle but right now it isn't so great. I mean I'd at least like Kirklands chances against K9, who by the way is a title holder that about fought Cotto this June.

He had a good trainer (he never lost with her). The problem isn't the trainer, it is James. He has some of the skills needed, but he will lose to every highly skilled boxer (similar to Gatti). At this point he only has a few fights left, the best thing to do is an Angulo rematch (please) or how about Curtis Stevens? Either fight is a toss up, the fighters get paid, the fans get guaranteed action.

kirkland was actually at the robert garcia gym trianing in the past, but they kicked him out. ellie had a video up but he took it down, I cause this dude had a weird lifestyle they aint mesh with.

If Kirkland doesn't come mentally ready to die in the ring, he fights like utter ****; Ann Wolfe seems to understand what needs to be done in camp to get Kirkland prepared to risk his life to impose his will on any opponent.

Garcia can't do that, Sanchez can't do that, Big Floyd can't do that, Roach can't do that. Ann can do that for him.
