Canelo saves boxing!!

What fans want is excitement! Fever pitched battles between boxers and punchers or boxers and boxers or punchers and punchers. When a fight costs a ton of money and does not live up to expectations or does not even have a decent undercard, people are disappointed. Some fans love boxing exhibitions and others wars. Some fans like both if they are fought at a fast pace. For X number of reasons, Pac and Floyd did not produce that. We cannot always rely on the top tier to produce exciting fights. Have to look elsewhere. The same thing happened to Trinidad vs Oscar and other fights that did not live up to expectations. Time to enjoy the lessor known fighters who are still trying to make a name, rather than fighters who are aging or have already reached the top.

That is not good boxing. It's totally irresponsible as a trainer to have your fighter fight the way Kirkland did tonight. You can be skillful, defensively responsible and exciting like Chavez Sr, Duran, Barerra and Morales and still have a long, successful career.

There is a difference between a great brawl and a beat down like this that will cut his career short and damage him mentally.

It is personal preference, and I stated mine is to see a fight. Not necessarily a brutal KO, but at least a fight. That **** last week was not a fight, and not worth a ****ing dime, let alone the millions of dollars it generated.

Leonard took 3 years off and came back to beat Hagler. Stfu and give Alvarez some credit. The boy came hungry and knocked out Kirkland. Canelo actually cares about the fans and gave the people what they want, not like somebody. He is good for boxing. Way better than the bull$#!+ we got last Saturday. Hopefully the casuals tuned in on this one. Thurman, Canelo, GGG etc. are the last of their breed. One bad thing about GGG, imo, is that he's already in his 30's. We need more of those type of fighters. Props to Kirkland. The man is a warrior and gave it his all. What impressed is that Canelo looked a little off in the beginning but the boy adapted and came back to do a fatality on Kirkland. While Kirkland was busy trying to bully Canelo on the ropes, Alvarez was studying and thinking of ways to counter Kirkland's style. Holy $#!+. The scary thing is that he's 24. Not even in his prime, YET. He's gonna be a force when he's 27.

It was a tough fight, canelo got ambushed. That's an uncomfortable feeling. Clearly canelo is better, doesnt mean it wasn't a good scrap.

I doubt we paid his bills. I don't think the James Kirkland story will have a happy ending. Hopefully I'm wrong.

That's how he chose to make a living and when he fights he gets paid well. You're right though, I don't see things ending well, he seems punch drunk already. It was difficult seeing him laid out like that. I really appreciated canelos concern for him. Really made me a fan of his.

Saves boxing from what? Last weekend we saw a fight that sold between five and six million PPVs. I doubt if Alvarez/Kirland attracted 1.5 million to watch it on HBO. Just how the hell does watching a B+ level fighter knock out a C+ level fighter save boxing?

Ya kirkland looked good for about the first minute and had moments in the second. But after that he got stung in the first he had no zip on those punches.
