It's not that man. Outmatched or not, kirkland came to fight and gave his all win or lose. That's what boxing is, it's a fight and people, the ones who pay the bills, demand to be entertained.

Fighters like Kirkland are exploited because they get good ratings and are cheap. A networks dream.

He needs to defend himself or he will be eating through a straw and talking like Meldrick Taylor when its all said and done.
I looked at this fight as a litmus test for Canelo and Kirkland. Canelo is touted as the next potential mega Mexican star, who is yet untested. Kirkland is known as a tough fighter who has shown vulnerability, but is still feared for his relentless style and power. Canelo was tested out of the gate, but stepped up and crushed his opponent. After that drivel last week, I feel some satisfaction in seeing tonight's fight.

I doubt we paid his bills. I don't think the James Kirkland story will have a happy ending. Hopefully I'm wrong.

People are gonna talk about how Canelo brutally knocked out Kirkland in a 3 rd slugfest compared to Floyd and Manny dancing bachata for 12 lame rds.

What fans want is excitement! Fever pitched battles between boxers and punchers or boxers and boxers or punchers and punchers. When a fight costs a ton of money and does not live up to expectations or does not even have a decent undercard, people are disappointed. Some fans love boxing exhibitions and others wars. Some fans like both if they are fought at a fast pace. For X number of reasons, Pac and Floyd did not produce that. We cannot always rely on the top tier to produce exciting fights. Have to look elsewhere. The same thing happened to Trinidad vs Oscar and other fights that did not live up to expectations. Time to enjoy the lessor known fighters who are still trying to make a name, rather than fighters who are aging or have already reached the top.
