He went through a similar rough patch around the time of the Khan ko courtesy of Garcia. I just can't remember if that was beginning or the end or somewhere in the middle ... But it seemed for the better part of a year he was losing every time out...
When you have as many fighters as he does, you're bound to lose a couple fights here and there and have some rough stretches.
He will turn it around when Cotto crushes Geale.
That's the problem. He has too many fighters, i don't know how he can even keep up especially with his condition. He prob had next to no time to prepare Tapia for this fight and his assistant had to work with provodnikov for his fight with Matthysse. Gomez came in overweight but during his time in training Freddie was with Pacquaio. Trainers should really have a select few fighters so they can invest all of their time with fighters instead of passing them off to different trainers when their schedule is tied up.
No adjustments for that fight. Absolutely nothing. The repeated trainer of the year awards has been ridiculous and I've been outspoken about that.
I really don't get it. He talks a good game but I just haven't seen IT in him nor his fighters. I coach football and you have to make adjustments on the FLY all the time. Just from a coaching standpoint, I don't see that from him at all. What I do see if the whining and complaining when his fighters lose. That's weak as hell and can't be respected. Especially how dude loves to bump his gums.
