After Kov toasts, broils, fricassees, mulches, pulverizes and disorganizes Mohammedi's mind for a few rounds... wouldn't it be great if ******man grew a set and simply fought Kov? As in no more red tape. Can't really blame Duva for wanting to stick with HBO. They have treated her company well as of late. But I just wanna see Kov/******man before I croak off. No excuses, no injuries, just a serious fight for the ages.

Stevenson, with GYM doing stellar business for him in Canada, and Haymon having the TV platform stateside, in addition to the relationships he has with fighters in the weight class, is in a pretty decent position (as long as he keeps knocking off whomever they put in front of him) to make good money.

The same can't be said for Kovalev, if we're being honest, especially if he gets by his mandatory defense. Kovalev hasn't established himself as a ticket seller anywhere and, outside of an in-house fight against Chilemba, you can't even point to two other fights that are worth anything for Kovalev.

Stevenson and his camp have the high ground, and they know it.

Stevenson likely misses out on the $4m-$5m for Stevenson-Kovalev, but he can easily pocket $2m-$3m per fight, fighting three times a year in Montreal against whomever GYM puts in front of him.

Kovalev doesn't have that luxury, as will be made absolutely clear once the purse numbers get released for Kovalev-Mohammedi.
Kovalevs next fight us lackluster, kinda like whatever Stevensons been doing off Hbo, but Im sure itll do far better premium cable ratings, and Kov will look better. Stevenson is the hometown champ in one of boxing best local markets and his last 3 fights got mediocre to poor attendance.

Stevenson has plenty of fights to work through, likely making 2-3 times whatever Kovalev is going to get for his own scrub fights.
Neither Duva nor Kovalev can pass on a multifight Hbo contract, its a huge deal for somone without built in fanbase. See Stevensons huge drop in ratings and attendance since he left Hbo.

Kovalev gives Arab a few camel humps on his face, then bombs him outta there.

Stevenson still cleared more actual money than what Kovalev was able to clear for his fight, regardless of the TV money, and will likely clear twice the money on his next fight than whatever HBO is offering Kovalev for the mandatory defense.

Stevenson IS a hometown champ, clearing good money on every fight, regardless of who it is or how good they actually are. To top that off, he still has Stevenson-Bute (and Stevenson-Pascal, if Pascal can string some wins together) as a massive payday fight in his pocket.

Unless HBO is really opening up their budget for Kovalev, which I doubt, I don't foresee a single fight that is available to Kovalev where you could honestly see him taking home even $1.5m (sans a fight with Stevenson).

not sure how Kovalev expects to feed a family on good Tv ratings.

If the objective was to lock in a multifight deal with HBO (knowing the issues/personalities that were influx for Kovalev's biggest fight possible), Duva shouldn't have spent all that time dragging Stevenson's name through the mud, let alone push the WBC as if they actually prioritized securing the fight with Stevenson.

Rather than be honest with the fans (our deal with HBO was ending, but we got an offer from HBO that we couldn't refuse), Duva went the scummy way.

Yeah man, Kovalev will continue fighting the best, Stevenson will continue fighting cans.

Then they want you to believe Kovalev avoided Stevenson when really all it was is Main Events/HBO didn't want him to fight on Haymon TV.

I wish Lennox Lewis would commentate on all Kovalev fights just so I could hear him say "Look at the state of his face!" again.
