Comments Thread For: Joshua: Wilder Proved You Don't Need To Go Rounds

Anthony Joshua says every fight he takes is crucial to his development in the paid ranks as he prepares to face Raphael Zumbano Love at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham on Saturday, live on Sky Sports.

Joshua returned from five months out with a third round KO win over gutsy American Jason Gavern in Newcastle in April, and there’s another experienced operator in his way on Saturday in Love, the South American Heavyweight champion appearing in his 48th contest.

The Olympic gold medallist boxes again on May 30 in a hotly-anticipated clash with Kevin Johnson at The O2 in London with fight fans and pundits plotting a path to take the 25-year-old into domestic dust-ups with Tyson Fury, David Price and Dereck Chisora.

Why doesn't Anthony Joshua fight the unbeaten Dillian Whyte who knocked him down and beat him before?

Because Whyte is a nobody. Joshua is an Olympic gold medalist and considered to be one of the hottest prospects in the sport.

The rounds will come when he fights Johnson. Johnson will probably only come to survive, so i'm interested in seeing how that one pans out.

Whyte's level of competition has been even worse than Joshua's. AJ is scheduled to fight Kevin Johnson anyway so fighting Whyte would be a backward step.

You may not "need" rounds, but it's still a good thing to get them in.

Zumbano Love lasted till the 10th round against Charles Martin. It will be interesting to see if AJ can get him out quicker than that.
