    Winky - Tito Predictions!

Lets hear it. But please....back up your pcik with some opinions and data. I hate Tito...but I just dont see Winky being able to back Tito up, and thats how Wright wins fights. Whoever establishes the forward momentum takes this one.

I've said it before, the Shane Mosley fight showed us one thing, and that is that Winky is a weak puncher, which a average chin. He is a good boxer. However I think that Trinidad will outbox him because he is much more talented than Winky. Possibly a late KO.

winky has good skills but i don't think he has the power to gain trinidad's respect. trinidad will probably walk him down and knock him out b-4 the night is through. does anyone know if is winky leavin 154 altoghether or will he return to defend his titles?

Winky is a second class fighter. I lost all my respect after his last Shane Mosley fight when he said that he would fight him again.

William Joppy is a legit middleweight champion and Tito hurts him like hell with that left hook (im assuming the hand wrapping issue is invalid ).

Winky cant avoid that for 12 rounds IMO. Trinidad via KO

I think Tito is on a class above Winky. Tito has beaten some great fighters and his only loss came against Hopkins and theres no shame in losing to that guy. Plus he is bigger and punches harder than winky. I think Winky will put up a damn good fight though, but I think the power shots are gonna wear him down over the twelve rounds. I like Tito by KO in 10.

Truly, I think Tito stops Winky in the late rounds - wears him down slowly and finally takes him out in about the 10th. Winky isn't a sleek boxer like De La Hoya can be. He used a high guard defence and that's made to order for Tito's bombs. He WILL hit through those gloves if he has to.

This is a stylistic mismatch that equals Trinidad by KO.
Winky Wright is an excellent defensive fighter, however....much of his defense consists of blocking punches with his gloves [in which he is very adept at], standing and fending his opponents off with a steady diet of counter-jabs.

First off, nobody 168lbs and below stands in front of Felix Trinidad, covers up, takes punches to the gloves, and gets away with it. This is Winky Wrights style, putting his gloves to the sides of his head like earmuffs to fend off blows, and if he let's Trinidad rain down bombs on his gloves, he will pay dearly.

Second of all, it takes a quick, patient mover to befuddle Trinidad [see DLH, Hopkins]. Compared to those guys, Winky Wright is not so agile. Trinidad likes to get his feet set in that "sprinter's stance" where he gets up on the ball of his right foot and simply unloads a dynamite left hook or a right cross onto a relatively stationary opponent like Winky Wright. Wright does not have quick enough feet to force Trinidad to set on the move.

One can point out that Winky Wright's southpaw stance will befuddle Trinidad, but according to the old boxing adage, the best weapon against a southpaw is a good left hook, and we all know that Trinidad has one of the most lethal left hooks in Jr.Middle-Middleweight history.

Third of all, if you don't have fancy footwork, then you have to have very good power to get Trinidad's respect [see Vargas, Hopkins, even Mamadou Thiam] and make him circle away from you at times. Otherwise, he'll stalk you all night long, and eventually catch you cold, especially if you're Winky Wright who is slightly-above-average at best in terms of punching power.

The only legitamate weapons Winky Wright has is his jab and counterpunching ability. Defenitely not enough against Felix Trinidad. Winky Wright is an excellent fighter, but this is defenitely the wrong fight for him.

Tito Trinidad by brutal KO or TKO in the early rounds.

I, too, believe that Winky is not in Tito's class. Yes, Winky made his mark by "outpointing" and "outboxing" Sugar Shane. But not by dominating and beating him. I think even Mayorga and Forrest would be too much for Winky, how much more with Tito? I believe this would be Winky's biggest test, and he fails, he will never recover again. On the other hand, if Tito loses, his retirement should then be for good.

P.S. Whatcha think about FORREST vs. TRINIDAD after Winky? I'd sure like to see that. Even thought Forrest went down vs Mayorga twice and Mayorga got beaten by Tito, this should be a great match! And if Tito wins this, a rematch vs. HOPKINS would be in order.
