He did it with Canelo and he did it with Pac. Is it effective?...Sure it is. Is it entertaining? For the most part no.

Lets take a look at his fight with Canelo. Was it one sided? Sure it was based on round by round scoring. The way many Floyd fans here were speaking the following day you would have though that someone who didn't see the fight missed the second coming of Floyd/Gatti when in reality it was far from. Analyzing round by round, Floyd won each round by landing a few more scoring punches in each round. Not hurtful or punishing blows, but scoring touch punches. Same thing with is fight against Pac. Never once did he hurt or have Pac in any sort of trouble. He won this fight by limiting Pac's offense with his defense while countering and landing a few more shots albeit not hard damaging blows in the rounds that he won.

Its like Floyd treats boxing like a game of flag football or 2-hand touch rather than full contact and has found a way to be the best at it. He turned a combat sport into a game of "tag you're it" and has mastered it.

I guess when you're labeled the best of your generation the bar is set a bit higher for you and rightfully so. Fight fans in general expect more from someone labeling themselves as TBE.
Casual fans didn't have that problem after the hatton fight because Hatton fought like a man and tried to win, getting KTFO in the process. Casual fans didn't have a problem with Manny after JMM 4 because he fought like a man and tried to win, getting KTFO in the process.

Casual fans know that Manny didn't try to win. Had he, they would have been fine with the way Floyd fights.

Mayweather is well on his way to being 40, maybe you need reminding of his 130-140 career.

I know that era of Floyd very well. But just like the music business, boxing is a "what have you done for me lately" game. Yes winning is what's most important, but most fans also watch boxing to be entertained and see an actual fight. Not someone trying to win with as little fighting as possible.

Floyd's style has proven to be entertaining as he is the leading seller of PPV fights ever. So clearly he has established a market. Not just from his body of work after age 35, but well before that.

Manny had established a market as well, fighting the way he did. He didn't fight that way.

Had Manny fought the usual way, his style would most likely have forced Floyd to apply his craft in a unique and entertaining way. A great actor needs a great script and a great co star.

Floyd only had the script in this fight.

I haven't spoken to a single person that didnt think it was a crap fight. For a fight that was supposed to be the defining contest for a generation, it was an absolute stinker. Floyd did what he always does - just enough to win, and thats on Manny too because the fact that floyd had so little to do was testament to Manny's effort or rather, lack of.

The whole spectacle ******, it was the worst 'superfight' I have ever seen and I think what they both earnt for that was obscene in the extreme. Not a good advert for boxing at all.

                His twat is bleeding.

Let him be. I didn't bother reading that post.

He's hurt. Been waiting for Floyd to lose for so long and the last hope failed --miserably.

Floyds marketability comes from his aura of invincibility that comes with being undefeated along with his brash personality. It has nothing to do with his fighting style.

I can guarantee you that if Floyd had a record of 44-4, he wouldn't even be a ppv fighter.
