I'll explain the sky sports commentary
Incompetent and have shown recent history of it
Jim watt scored bute pascal for bute...I know...I kid you not
History of one-sided commentary- froch groves I in favour of groves. 2nd fight the opposite
Froch biased towards Floyd because he received a compliment the previous day? I mean he is massively up his own ass
Also Floyd is the bigger star in the uk and he isn't hated in the uk. And mayweather himself wanted the fight on sky and not on boxnation.
Woeful commentating by sky yet again

Great thread!
Have watched the fight twice in real-time and was getting a bit bored by the references to 'punch stats' by UK media, e.g.
BBC "435 punched thrown by Mayweather, 148 landed. Pacquiao threw 429, 81 hit"
Guardian "Mayweather lands 148 of 435 punches (34%), Pacquiao just 81 of 429 (19%)"
Telegraph "Ringside punch stats showed Mayweather landing 148 punches of 435, while Pacquiao landed 81 of 429"
Been seeing these BS numbers everywhere! Think I will take your lead and watch it in slow-mo, just to know for myself

I was going to start a thread similar to this which I was going to title 'Apparently there was a masterclass on May 2...I must have missed it'.
First of all I think it is important to mention I have Floyd winning the fight 8-4, but could easily see 9-3, 7-5, or 6-6, there was so many close rounds. I could not understand the Sky Sports commentary, it was a nip and tuck close fight, and they were talking like Floyd was in another stratosphere. I had it 5-3 after 8, to me a legitimately close fight, which was difficult to score and very back and forth, but they were using words like 'masterclass' and 'clinic'.
It totally ruined the fight for me, I can see the interpretation that Pacquiao didn't do enough, but I thought he fought a good tactical fight. He didn't close the show which was what I was disappointed with, when I was watching the fight live I genuinely thought he threw it away in the last 4 rounds and I stand by that interpretation, Floyd pulled away. But I cannot emphasis enough how far this was from a 'masterclass' or 'clinic' as lots of people thought. I felt like someone was trying to brainwash me, Floyd fought a good fight, a very good defensive fight, but both guys struggled to land or mount any kind of offensive dominance.
I have seen Floyd put on a 'clinic' before, in fact recently. His fight against Canelo was a clinic. His win over Guerrero turned into a clinic, against Hatton, Mosley, Marquez was an absolute clinic. But last Saturday was not even close!! It was a tactical fight, where both guys made adjustments along the way, and was not a very taxing fight for either guy, in fact neither guy looked like they had even been in a fight. I think this is why so many were disappointed, maybe the onus was on Pacquiao, I haven't quite decided whether either guy was to blame, because I thought they both fought pretty solid fights.
My general conclusions:
Floyd is the greatest fighter of this generation, but not based on the fight. One thing people often overlook is that Pacquiao is AT LEAST one clear weight division of natural size smaller than Mayweather. He was expected to win, I expected him to dominate, but he was not able to...why? Because Pacquiao is also great fighter and an underrated technician. I think when all is said and done these guys will be pretty close in terms of where they rank all time. I give Mayweather the edge because of his consistency and longevity, plus I think Floyd was more dominant generally throughout his career.
This brings me nicely on to my next point: What happened to this weak and frail fighter that would show up as soon as there was random testing? Can the Pacquiao naysayers finally please sit down, especially the Mayweather camp, and Paulie Malignaggi who was still eluding to Pacquiao 'juicing' in his post fight interview. Give it a rest already, it is so boring! The guy was tested and to be frank looked physically the same as he always did, albeit more hesitant. He hit Floyd with ok shots and rocked him, they weren't even full blooded punches. The Mayweather's especially Floyd Snr and Roger thought Pacquiao would get KO'd early, both insinuating that as long as there was random testing...'you gonna see what it is'...sure! I think in many ways, in my eyes at least this fight solidified Pacquiao's greatness and ability, he pushed Floyd fairly close in a tactical fight, a fighter who is naturally bigger, one of the greatest of all time and technically the best i have ever seen. Its a shame most won't see it that way.
Mythbusters:
Myth: That Floyd is the puncher of the two and could stand and trade with Pacquiao if he wanted.
Truth: Not a chance, he would have gone the same as the others had he employed these tactics, as I previously said he got rocked in the 4th round by a left hand counter lead which was far from a devastating punch, also rocked slightly in the 6th by a grazing left hook. Pacquiao took some solid shots from Floyd in return, in particular a tremendous right uppercut, and he never shook Pacquiao up once.
Myth: Pacquiao could overwhelm Mayweather with volume punching and steal rounds.
Truth: Again no, Floyd controls distance and volume alone was not going to do for Pacquiao, unless you are a much bigger fighter than him and able to disregard his punches, this won't work.
My biggest disappointment is that this was a good fight between two all time greats, that at the time at least is not appreciated for what it was.

Great exercise. Wonder how many blowhard reporters took the time to investigate this "computerized" compubox bull****. It's still a subjective count. Nothing computerized about that. It would be computerized if they wear suits like fencers and the gloves triggered a signal when certain parts of the suit is touched.
Also tells you wonders about that fight that you have to watch it in slo mo to find something worthwhile that happened! Absolutely nothing took place in this fight. Floyd won it by tapping Manny's head and running. Fact is, Manny could not catch Floyd. And the rare times he did, Floyd would just hold. So how will a rematch be different? Use reach, tap, run, and if cornered, hold. Formula for another $200M...and GREATNESS! Sucker fans!

good fight for me
I scored it live 115-113. I don't like Floyd, but I gave this fight to him. He was the more active fighter for me.
Good numbers in this analisys though. When I heard the 188-110 scorecard I was WTF!, how can you score it like that.
Good thing its over. I think that we will not have a rematch.
Floyd is already a great fighter, nothing more to prove, but, I will like to see Mayweather VS Golovkin at 154, that in my humble opinion will give Floyd a very high ATG status.Last edited by xhiddenx87; 05-06-2015, 06:37 AM.

Oh please, are you trying to somehow prove that Manny Pacquiao won this fight? You're just wasting your time man! Everybody that mattered saw Mayweather winning the fight clearly (except for Pacquiao and his deluded camp who want a rematch by any means) Fight wasn't close and you know it, no way Manny won more than 3-4 rounds, NO WAY IN HELL!
This is not what Pacquiao's fans are arguing over anymore cuz after they rewatched the fight they saw that Pacquiao got outclassed, now they're crying about Pacquiao's injury, just like their fighter, first he was like I won, then he was like if he would've stood still I would've thrown punches, then he was like it's hard to fight with 1 hand, which one is it Manny?
If you wanna cry about the outcome of the fight argue over the injury, which is also BS, but at least it makes 0,1% sense, arguing that Manny won or even got close to getting a draw makes absolutely ZERO sense at all!

Interesting thread but manny lost. I can tell you right now he was outlanded.
I've watched the fight 3 or 4 times and the only thing I can remember is mayweather landing jabs and right hands very clearly and manny throwing ineffective flurries. Manny did land a few left hands and some body shots.
