Tired of casual fans

What constitutes a 'casual fan'?
Theres so many posters here who only post about Mayweather/Pacquiao, or from that, Arum/HBO - Haymon/PBC and anything indirectly related in that manner.
Nothing else. It's sad now that a lot of them now have strange self righteousness over the other fanboy squad, as if their fanboy ways were somehow vindicated.
Yet i'm supposed to believe these are 'hardcore fans'?
I just don't go into most threads, you already know who the posters you'll find are and what their responses to that thread will be.Comment

They say boxing as a poormans' sport
They also say a Camaro is a poormans' Ferrari
Well, Boxing is an Olympic game.
It is not dying anytime soon. If anything it is growing and expanding into the Chinese and Arab empires. It is as global as Soccer(football) is, and two of its players happen to be the highest paid athletes in the world.
Boxing is more global than American Football, Baseball, or Hockey. Bigger than Cricket and MMA.
Boxing may be dying in a "casuals" small town but the sport has a solid hold around the world.Comment

I wonder why they even say that.
Boxing is one of the most expensive sports out there from a viewing standard. You not only need premium cable or satellite TV from a service provider, you also need premium channels like HBO and Showtime that cost extra. And people like me are duped into paying for these channels even if we don't actually watch anything other than boxing. And the bigger scale fights are on PPV.
The only exception is these CBS and NBC cards Haymon is putting on. Those are free to watch as long as you have an antenna on top of your TV.Comment

If there were no casual fans, you wouldn't have any fighters checks to brag about. The casual fan is what drives the sport.Comment

I agree and completely understand what you're saying. That said, i'll take it one step further and say that a casual fan will never in their life have visited a boxing website/forum.What constitutes a 'casual fan'?

Even the most hardcore of fanboys of fighters, who at least make the effort to get to a site like b-scene, are at least a step above your casual fan that you meet at a bar or whatever.
just my opinionComment

Casual fans are the engine of the sport. Without them, boxers could be doing their matches on the streets or on the a high school gym. You set up more superfights in the future and boxing will come alive again. They are just waiting for it. Money is no object for them, just give them what they really want.Comment

Casual fans don't follow boxing on a regular basis, so how could they possibly know what they really want? Hell, the "hardcore" boxing fan doesn't always know what he wants. Casuals depend heavily on mainstream media to formulate their opinions, so it wouldn't surprise me if May/Pac 2 turned out to be a success.Casual fans are the engine of the sport.
