Still remarkable to me that a boxer in our times is this insanely popular in his home country where millions just stop whatever they are doing to watch him fight. Yeah people are disappointed he lost but he lost to the P4P #1 fighter, no shame in that whatsoever.

Totally agree ... What many seem to lose sight of when thinking about the Philippines is that it is a very distressed country. Many are living in abstract poverty and are just barely managing to get by. HOPE in such a situation, becomes the rallying cry for the masses and Manny represents that hope. How many stories do they have of a individual just like them overcoming the odds to become both a boxing star and national representative.

All I see in those pictures is hope, desperation and the desire for true change which Manny represents.
