When Inwatched the post fight and he said he was relinquishing the belts the first thing that came to mind is that he's going to fight for a PBC belt and help establish that come September.

Maybe,, only problem is that if floyd wins a PBC belt, he just gonna turn around and retire, making the Pbc belt vacant... If he sticks around then it makes sense

And what does a PBC do for a guy like him? It's even more meaningless than any of his belts now. And it's not like this is the first time he's bypassed a belt. Remember him not wanting to fight Mosley for his belt?

I'd assume Haymon just gives him a pile of money & Floyd is good with that. Idk tbh, I'm just thinking out loud cuz its an odd move to me. Maybe Haymon is bringing Mayweather Promotions into the PBC fold & there doing each other a favor. Who knows.

I guess it could be some bs opponent in Sept. that he'd be concerned with the groups not sanctioning so it doesn't matter. Maybe its just bs talk that he'll drop them. I just heard what he said & trying to make sense of something that don't make a lot of sense to me.

And wasn't the Mosley thing over him not wanting some non-WBC belt or something like that? Tossing all his belts seems like a bigger deal than not wanting some new belts in particular a belt he sees as less valuable for some reason. He's always held the WBC belts in higher regard so him dropping those two belts (the WBC 147lb & WBC 154lb belts) seems weird.

I don't think I can even recall a situation why a guy dropped so many belts for seemingly no good reason so if thats the case this is some strange ass historical kinda moment. He obviously doesn't need them, but no one really does this sorta thing for no reason.

Exactly. Just some speculation & attempt at making sense of something that doesn't make a whole bunch of sense.

I don't see it as that much of a negative that Mayweather would win some rumored PBC belt & then retire. I think Mayweather being the first PBC champ or fighting for the first PBC title vs lets say Keith Thurman legitimates it in a way Thurman vs Shawn Porter or Amir Khan fighting for it could never accomplish. If you want public acceptance having Mayweather fight for that belt would be the way to go.

The question of why Mayweather would wanna be involved with this is certainly debatable. Maybe Haymon did some godfather **** upon first getting with Mayweather & getting him where he's at now with a 9 figure check and now Mayweather's favor to Haymon is due. Beats me, but dropping all these belts makes zero sense to me thus far.

Khan would be a shht fight. he does not deserve it, and he has had plenty of time to fight meaningful opponents.

I am not interested in Cotto either, but I agree that he is likely the only valid opponent left.

Despite Pacquiao's shoulder injury he still managed to land a few hard shots. He showed Floyd a glimpse of what he's capable of doing in the fourth round before his shoulder began to flare-up. After feeling a fraction of Pacquiao's power Floyd is rushing to vacate his belts and doing everything possible to avoid a rematch.
