Nope. Does it make sense to you that Pac's Legions of Fans live in parts of the world where food on the table is hit or miss from day to day. They don't have a highly-taxed middle and upper class to provide them with Lifeline phones, Section 8 housing, Quest cards, free healthcare, etc. That's why much of southeast Asia shows these fights on every screen of movie theaters. A few thousand PPV purchases, millions of viewers. Just because they can't shell out $55 for a PPV doesn't mean they aren't there.

I'm about as big of a fan as Pacquiao has. I even "War Pacquiao"ed the back glass on my Subaru. If I had to choose between watching Pac win or the chance of Mayweather getting his ass spanked, I'm tuning in to Mayweather. Now, I make it a point to find a stream so as to not contribute to that bank account of his, but you get my drift.

My disdain for Mayweather far.... FAR exceeds my appreciation of Pacquiao. It's true that Mayweather get's higher PPV buys, but keep in mind that he's only able to fight "The Fight of the Century" with the help of Pacquiao. His largest payday by far, is coming because he's fighting Pacquiao. There is no one else out there that he could fight and generate these numbers.

And why is this contested in the first place? Mayweather is the villain. He's the one we love to hate. He's had Ellerbe and Haymond to carefully craft that persona because they knew it would make him a multi-millionaire. More and more, people are coming to appreciate what he does in the ring, but he isn't beloved. He has cling-ons and yes men, but how many of them would be there if he lost it all?

It's a damn good thing he's the phenomenon that he is, because if it weren't for his superior skill, he'd be one more pipe-hitting smudge on the streets of Flint, incapable of reading which bathroom is the Men's and which is the Women's because he stopped learning to read at the letter "E".
