I don't think people realize that many quotes from both camps in these articles are responses to questions by reporters.

If a reporter asks him, "We haven't seen that killer instinct in your recent fights. Is that killer instinct back?"

What do you expect him to say? "I don't know...you can't tell until after the fight."

Gimme a break. I'd rather him have 100% confidence than philosophically reserved and conservative about the expectation of his performance.
