I'm not so sure Mayweather truly believes he's greater than Ali.

This all started when Rasheda Ali revealed publicly that her pops is a Pacquiao fan and is pulling for Pacquiao. She also gave a little look into how her dad feels about Mayweather when she said that her father "stood for things" and that he feels Mayweather is a pretty shallow character.

I think Mayweather probably worships Ali and this cut him. So now he's greater than Ali.

Well, thing is, Tyson worships Ali as well. When asked what a fight would have played out between the two, Tyson started to tear up and said at no point could he ever have beaten Ali.

Anyway, I'm probably reading too deeply into it but it's not in Mayweather's character to humble himself when hearing that his idol favors his opponent. Mayweather really is one of the greatest fighters ever, but emotionally he is still a very young child. His response is to stamp his feet, pucker that bottom lip, and claim that he is actually better than Ali.

Tyson is right, Floyd can knock Pacquiao out in the first round and it won't make no difference Floyd isn't the best ever. Floyd wound't of beaten Duran, Hagler, Hearns, Leonard and same with Pacquiao, Floyd didn't even dominate an old out of prime Oscar and he thinks he's the best ever. Both are top 15-20 ATG, the winner of this fight is the best of the decade not ever.

when you seperate the trash talk from the actual boxing then, floyd is far better than any of the older fighters including ali.
the modern day fighter is far more skilled but fall short in terms of longevity.
the modern guys are nowhere near as tough, they take less fights for example: two fights per year whereas the great sugar ray robbo used to have two or three in few months! gone are the days where elite fighters have records of 80 or 90 fights.
greatness as a boxer can be based on a number of things...
period of time remaining undefeated having beaten all comers.
being beaten and coming back to slidify that status is an even greater achievement.
multiple weight titles.( this is not as difficult a task nowadays because of the split weight divisions)
muhammad ali was probably the only outspoken fighter than comes to mind with all the brash, trash talkin attitude in the older school of fighters and this paved the way for boxers to say hey, this gets attention this gets more money and look at the game now! very few fighters remain humble.
respecting a boxer who is humble is far more easy to say hes great because theirs little to beat him down with.
cotto, pacman, jmm etc never a bad word said about anybody and that makes people say they are great in the modern day game but fact is fact...
floyd mayweather may have a bad attitude and be a mouthy **** but....
as he says, hes the greater "boxer" but not the greater man.

Solid post. I'll have to ponder this one.

Half of the time, I don't know if people are trolling on this site, or are dead serious. Either way it goes, only time will tell what really matters. We are two days away from the biggest fight the sport has ever seen. And mither****ers are worried about the opinions of a man who chose to throw dirt on someone else, given his past history. It's sickening. More ironic, the fact the people call Floyd small and scared, even though he is fighting the guy that they said he would never face. What kind of ass backwards logic is that? How in the world do people get the nerve to call anyone who puts their life more or less on the line in a ring a coward?

I appreciate Mike for bringing the excitement to the ring, and also being the youngest heavyweight champ, but this is by far the most classless I've ever seen him behind the mic.

Has nothing to do with what Ali's daughter said, because this is not the first time Floyd has said this about Ali.

I heard on the radio that Tyson had more to say later. I can't remember what it was but it was brutal.
