He did land shots on Morales going back but a lot of the time he couldn't and did nothing, especially in their first fight. However, he is never in complete control of himself fighting backwards and against Mayweather, you can't lose control of what you're doing.

Everyone should watch them and I think if someone says he didn't then he either just bragadaccious and don't tell the truth or just fucking dumb

I think youve just got to be smart about it. I remember Roach being asked about it once, he said (paraphrasing) "Its not about looking for mistakes, its about looking for habits."

Max Schmelling saw on tape that a young Joe Louis had a habit of dropping his left, so he developed a plan around right hand and the rest is history.

Only way it could back fire is if you develop an idea of how you think your opponent will fight, prepare for it, and then they come out and do something different.

It can hurt you in the sense that the fighter may fight a different way vs you

And you start seeing things which aren't there

And especially when your opponent has been matched vs much inferior opposition it's difficult to say how he can fight

But overall, the benefits out weight the drawbacks

In Floyd's case, I believe him when he says he doesn't watch tape.

Whereas roach has watched tape religiously for this fight

I think it's gonna hurt Floyd in this fight because now he's gonna take longer to make adjustments and vs a guy like manny who doesn't gas and has a massive heart and the skills to get to Floyd, that's gonna hurt him

it only hurts when you try to change too much of your style to fit the success you've seen someone else have against your current opponent

sometimes you just can't do what the other guy did and that's what a fighter watching tape on his opponent should keep in mind, look for what he himself is good with, see if the opponent has an opening for that and work on capitalizing on that advantage

You shouldn't believe Mayweather. Mostly because he says and does things that directly contradict his claim to not watch tape.
