If Tyson was the HWT champ today, no fighter would be near him. We all know that. Today we have a HWT champ, a man who fights globally, and he earns far less than Floyd and Manny. So stop pretending its 1989.

My point is simple-no matter what anyone thinks of Floyd he has found a way to make himself a bigger earner than Mike Tyson. That is a fact.

As for impact-Tyson was a phenomenon-at one point the most notable human in the world other than the President or the Pope. No, Floyd has never been that and I nor anyone suggests he has.

That doesn't mean he hasn't made some kind of impact. After this fight, he will have been in the largest grossing fights in history, the same thing Tyson had at one point.

I understand that this will be the biggest grossing fight of all time but to real boxing fans we could give two ****s what they earned it was what they did in the ring and Mike's legacy will always be greater than Floyd's ...In yrs to come who will discuss boxing purses ?

Unless we are getting a cut I personally don't care about the finances ..I hope boxers make the most money but that's not what brings me to boxing .

Tyson's perception of "greatness" is interesting and he does usually have interesting insights into things boxing. Mayweather is NOT a people's champion, which can't be denied. He has too much of a siege mentality for that. He seems to be happier having what he has and achieving what he's achieved by being the way he is rather than being everything people want him to be and probably achieving half as much and getting half as much too. He made his choice, he just has to live with it.

What makes me laugh are people on here repeatedly moralising: "How can anyone be a fan of a woman beater like Floyd Mayweather?", but they love them some of a convicted rapist......... as long as he's laying into Mayweather. Hypocrite much?

Exactly. Tyson was a bad man in the ring, no question. But his antics outside of it and how he treated people around him make Floyd look like a nice guy in comparison. Floyd talks trash but in a somewhat comical way dissing the fighters skills or money. Tyson would issue life threatening insults. Floyd has had issues with women, but Mike did too. The way he told that reporter to be quiet unless she fornicates with him... Imagine if Floyd was that disrespectful.

And as far as legacies go, Floyd's is greater. Pac too of course. Tyson's resume is weak in comparison.
