What Importance To Boxers Are The Lessons Learned From Previous Fights?

With this big fight this weekend, it came to mind regarding the importance of the lessons learned from their previous fights. It's as if all the cumulations of those fights are now leading them into this one final event.

We know about their physical abilities, it has been analysed over and over. Their mental fortitude has also been talked about. What about their experiences in the ring and what they took away from that.

The question I'm trying to ask is, which one out of the two would have the advantage from learning from their previous bouts. Who would have taken the most out of those fights and be able to apply those lessons or experiences to this huge and final fight.

    Your thoughts.

I think both have a wealth of an experience..

Floyd has always been more polished due to his family ties to the sport as a youth.. Manny was much more raw but slowly molded by roach...

You can literally see manny evolve from his flyweight days all the way thru to welterweight.. Went from a one dimensional jab jab left hand fighter vs barrera, marquez 1, slowly added the right hand thru the course of the morales trilogy, and then really put together his speed, technique, angles, footwork when he hit 135-147

Floyd hasn't had that much evolution to his game because he was already a well oiled machine when he turned pro... He was masterful at a very young age vs genaro, manfredy, corrales...

Floyd's skills probably haven't evolved but his ring generalship and ring IQ have probably greatly increased over the years.. I'm sure he learned a lot from fights like augustus, famoso, chavez, castillo, Corley..that made him more prepared for the guys like cotto, hatton, Oscar, etc...

Floyd has experience and some uncomfortable moments against some south paws in which he had to make adjustments to win.The problem is that none of those guys were close to the level of Pacquiao. Pacquiao has experience with boxers and counter punchers, the problem is that none of them had the i.q. or defensive capabilities of Mayweather.I give a slight edge to Pacqiao in this area just because he's fights orthodox fighters every time out where as most orthodox fighters only fight a handful of south paws.

If it comes to facing adversity, who would be able to deal with it better or is it equal?

For example in this fight, it's between an orthodox and a southpaw and a clash of heads could possibly result in a bad cut over the eyes. So that fighter is now forced to fight with an unfair advantage, will he still fight hard to win or will he look for a way out?

Or if one is imposing his will on the other who will more likely fight to the end and who will more likely quit?

You would think people who are putting a lot of money on this fight would include that in their analysis on who they should be betting on.

Both guys can deal with adversity in the ring... Neither has ever buckled under the pressure if things aren't going their way... Floyd is a master at adapting, and manny has a true warrior spirit

I'm picking manny to win due to his higher workrate and his fast footwork.. I think floyd is alittle long in the tooth to constantly move for 12 rds..

I don't see either quitting, but if I had to pick one I would say floyd, more precisely I can envision floyd Sr throwing in the towel late in the fight if manny is hurting floyd, and floyd being irate with his dad for stopping it..

Both Mayweather and Pacquaio have experience through the roof.

Both have been fighting at the top level for almost 20 years, both have been through the weight classes, both have been through adversity in fights, both have been superstars for many years.

Very rarely, if ever, will you see the two best fighters in the world be as experienced as these two. Combined they have almost 40 years experience at the world level and
