Actually, the situation we find ourselves in bears striking resemblance to the early 2000s, when Lennox was 'the champ' and Wlad was a title holder who was bigged up as the heir to the throne. Similarly, Wilder is just 1 big loss away from suddenly becoming very boring in my opinion. It could be the same as Wlad's story - an exciting destroyer till he will have to make changes for the sake of his career.

Following that narrative, will a young but unheralded contender drag the ageing champ into deep waters and almost win but just miss out? Maybe Tyson Fury could be that man like Vitali was, but I doubt it as Wlad is still focused and Fury isn't as good or even near what Vitali was around 2003.
Yes it's similar but Wlad was much younger than Wilder is now. So a bad ko loss will affect Wilder much worse than it did to Wlad. I will say this that Wilder is a better fighter than I thought as he had a plan b against Stiverne when his bombs didn't move the stocky Canadian.

Dunno how a boxing fan could draw any other conclusion. Say what you want about Wilder, but he uses his talent and physicality to box. What Klitschko does isn't boxing.

The fun might be short lived even if Wilder won it today.

Wilder's a top-heavy, chicken-legged, overrated boxer, who hasn't fought one real contender in 33 fights besides Stiverne. One chin-check from Klitschko will put an end to Wilder, if he can pause from clinching long enough to punch.

                  yes.

wlad is on the way out anyways. if wilder beats him and sends him out it will be a passing of the torch and a new star will be born in the HW division. if promoted correctly wilder vs joshua could then go on to be the biggest HW fight in years and finally bring back excitement to the division.

if wlad simply vacated and retired it wouldn't be the same, especially if he killed wilders momentum beforehand.
