Comments Thread For: Local Promoter Speaks Out On Riots In Baltimore

Baltimore, MD (April 28, 2015)—As the rioters tear through the streets of Baltimore, MD, boxing promoter and gym owner Jake “The Snake” Smith remains extremely concerned for his friends, family and community. Like many other locals, Smith not only calls the Baltimore area his home but a place where he makes a living.

Having spent his entire life in and around Baltimore, Smith’s two children attend nearby schools and his Baltimore Boxing Gym is located on S. Broadway. For the safety of those that attend, Smith closed his gym yesterday and is keeping the doors shut today as well.

Due the violent protests of Freddie Gray’s death, Smith isn’t positive when he will be able to continue training his boxers, many of whom use the Baltimore Boxing Gym as a resource to escape the preexisting dangers of the streets.

“In my 40-plus years in Baltimore, this is the worst thing I’ve ever seen,” said Smith, whose promotional efforts have helped many local organizations through raffles and donations. [Click Here To Read More]

    Black Lives do NOT matter?

Look at baltimore, who cares. 16,000 empty buildings, high crime rates, no leadership. Let the city burn. No one cares.

The savages burning the city down don't realize when all this blows over they dumb asses still have to live there. It only hurts themselves but I'm sure they'll blame it on the government or someone else.

Baltimore City police have killed 112 people since 2012.

Let that sink in for a minute then explain why its a big problem now that people are acting out but it wasn't a big problem when 112 people were killed by the police.

Now I am not saying all the killings were unjustified but we all damn well know there are plenty within that 112 were a police officer/s were wrong.

Definitely justifies the innocent store owners who aren't able to make an honest living. /s Also, what were those 112 people doing to put their lives in a situation where they could be shot at? Ask yourself that question. I understand police brutality exist but don't give them a reason to be lethal. How is that hard to understand?

So the way to deal with it is violence against innocent people in your own community and burning their places of business, injuring police officers and actually hurting the cause they are preaching about?

The people out to protest in a civil way should have their voices heard but the mutts that are just looting and rioting should get what they deserve and get zero sympathy from anybody, they don't care about any cause, they are there to create problems and loot what they can.

Love how everyone including the news is trying to change the narrative about this from the police murdering a man to out of control rioters and looters.

@Titan M obviously the people out there haven't had there voices heard for years.

                  Quote from Dr. King
"But at the same time, it is as necessary for me to be as vigorous in condemning the conditions which cause persons to feel that they must engage in riotous activities as it is for me to condemn riots. I think America must see that riots do not develop out of thin air. Certain conditions continue to exist in our society which must be condemned as vigorously as we condemn riots. But in the final analysis, a riot is the language of the unheard."

A lot of yall in here codemning the riots but say nothing about why people feel they have to riot.

Reading peoples post on here for years I am not suprised at all.

So is Baltimore police going around killing innocent people or are they thugs with criminal past? You can also say, they arrest thousand of blacks each day, are they all innocent too? Put those numbers in context. What were they doing, why where they shot? Police brutality seems to be the answer to everything now-a-days.
