I read before that his close friend died in other interviews...I never knew he fought in the main event after and that he had held him in his arms as he was dying. All his other friends retired from boxing after that while he continued.
    First time seeing this footage.

    That's some crazy $hyt.

I also never knew he couldn't speak tagalog when he left for the Philippines at 14. Yall need to understand. Manila is one of the most populated cities in the world ...I'm sure Manny didn't exactly arrive to Manila's best parts... surely, he had to hustle on the streets/slums near the local boxing gym. Not knowing the language is pretty crazy...the only thing he had was boxing.

This man is amazing. Just kept overcoming the struggles he had in his life. Imagine having your friend died in your arms at the age of 16 and getting knocked out cold at the peak of your career and still keeping fighting back like nothing ever happened. Truly inspirational.

The friend that died was one of the 7 other young boxers that were stowaways with Manny from General Santos.

pretty much 8 kids with boxing dreams . damn.

You have so many options in America and you said you would have to sell drugs or rob someone? *** outta here dumb ass and he will probably say the prison system is against us! man blame yourself when you thinking about selling drugs and robbing people as a last resort when you can easily have other options.

My friend she had a bad divorce she was 38 years old went to trade school took up culinary arts, got a good job as a cook and after 4 years she opened up here own fast food place.

This fool Nate Jones is a disgrace. But judging from the way he talks he sounds like he has a low IQ anyway.
Look now we are actually starting to encroach upon social conditioning. Life and tragedy is bad across all people.

But you have to ask yourself, why, do you think he saw that as the only option. The U.S.A. social economic ladder is built on exploitation and social conditioning. Think if this, when you have a society that everyday tell you your nothing, what do you think you turn out being? I live in Canada and it's the same thing here with the native population because allot of legislation has passed back in the day that keeps these people on a plot of land, that nobody wants. Our government, was issued by the United Nations, to fix it, and we didn't. Their, US African Americans of the 70-80's, socialized upbringing revolved around Substance abuse! African Americans have been subjugated to the exact same treatment. War on drugs in the Ronald Regan Era, shows that the US government imported crack cocain into poor neighborhoods because they didn't want any intellectual uprising to take place. Ala Martin Luther king, Malcolm X and the Black Panthers who stood for not just the African community. Now what happens when you introduce a highly addictive substance into a community that has no previous experience or barriers to it, full blown addiction. And when you have a criminal code focusing on this "war on drugs" at that time, people who are addicted, because they cannot stop, go to jail.

Did you know that African Americans are the largest population in jail, 4 times more any other culture in the US. but make up 13.2% of the overall population in the US? Confidence, naw bro. They make up less that a half quarter of the population, but there are 4 times the amount of and other cultual group in jail! Not to mention the ones being killed by police.

            This is all fact homes.

So when Nate Jones's thought process is like well "I have to sell drugs" its the social conditioning that projects that. Cultural stereotypes subsist in mainstream society to prey on the weak and undermine their self worth. Look at history and the Irish immigrating to the US. (known fro drinking and fighting)

The US, now, is kinda changing because people are becoming more "educated/accepting" of people who are human but have a different skin tone. The US is based around agendas, to not have people of varying shades not working together.

Also, Look at ****sexuals, which also under the Regan Era AIDS was views as a disease that only Gays get.

Looking back at history it explains allot.

                lmfao.

Pacquaio had it 10000X worse and selling drugs or robbing people never crossed his mind.
food stamps isnt enough to feed a family, this has been proven. the free school you speak of is over priced, thats how **** it is. the jobs available are trash, not much better than selling donuts on the streets and section 8 isnt much help.

im not saying floyd had it as tough as manny, but dont sit around acting as if he had an easy time coming up. floyd grew up in a house without warm water, with the lights turned off on a regular basis. idk what their food situation was but im guessing it wasnt great either.

again, not as rough as manny. but hard as hell regardless. it should also be mentioned floyd never did sell drugs or rob anyone, so i dont know why you even bring that up.

Yea for sure. Both Pac and his friend were 16. Both lied about their age, as the minimum age to fight was 18 and you had to weigh 100 pounds+.

I think you missed the point. The reality is, Americans don't understand what it is to really be poor, to really live in a situation where you don't know where your next meal will come from.

3rd world poor is much different than being poor in America. Floyd complains and talks about how rough he's had it, but in reality he's never had it rough. He's just grown up with ignorant parents and a lack of education. Floyd grew up with his uncle and father giving the wrong example and it reflects on the person Floyd is.

i get what you are saying. without question its tough being poor anywhere in the world even in developed countries

but these are two whole different definitions of "poor". not having warm water is nothing compared with the fear of extremists cutting your head off for not being ****** in addition to not having something to eat.

i'm sure people like manny would have given anything to be "American" kind of poor.
