  • Comments Thread For: TV Ratings For HBO, SHO Mayweather-Pacquiao Coverage

In addition to HBO and Showtime going head to head with separate live boxing telecasts on April 18, both networks offered competing coverage of the upcoming May 2 superfight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

The two cable giants are working together in a joint Pay-Per-View telecast, but have produced separate series dedicated to the most anticipated event of the 21st Century.

HBO offered Mayweather/Pacquiao: At Last on a night that also included 2014 Fighter of the Year Terence Crawford and a highly anticipated showdown between Lucas Matthysse and Ruslan Provodnikov.

Showtime presented the first installment of its Inside Mayweather-Pacquiao series alongside its televised tripleheader that featured the network debut of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

In terms of ratings, HBO's coverage nearly quadrupled that of Showtime. Mayweather/Pacquiao: At Last delivered 735,000 viewers, while Inside Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: Episode One drew 202,000 viewers. [Click Here To Read More]

Haven't seen either yet. Probably will just watch HBO's since Showtime's thing with Kriegel was so horrible I don't want to watch any of their stuff for a while

Doesn't make a bit of difference. Showtime cannot compete with HBO and that has been proven over and over again.

Seems normal to me if you look at the ratings of last weeks fights. Makes sense that HBO would beat Showtime again. Plus Showtime has been releasing their show a day early and they have been getting huge views.

It does because people have already seen it.

Why watch it on showtime when its already on youtube?

They just released episode 2 this morning

Showtimes effort Was a 25 minute sycophantic ar5e lick of Floyd. It was like he wrote the script himself.
              Hbo's was much richer.

                HBO > Showtime

Just how it is, and will be like that for a long while, Showtime boxing is just fine with you take into account their subscription base etc but in big picture thing HBO is the home of boxing just for the simple fact is has a wider audience then showtime.

I watched both on each networks youtube channel, did not even bother to watch it on their Networks

HBO has way more subscribers than Showtime by the way so HBO will always win head to head in ratings. HBO is just a better OVERALL NETWORK IMO!

I'm being totally honest: Episode 1 of Floyds show was horrible. I'm not saying that because I'm not a fan of Floyd, it just ******.

I'll watch episode 2 later and hopefully it's better.
