Then I got it - you are assuming that the different standards and expectations Ward is talking about are a reference to his race.
I disagree with that interpretation. I think he is just saying that boxing fans expect more from elite, P4P fighters like him and Floyd than they expect from other fighters, and that sometimes those expectations are unrealistic.
I knew Andre's dad was white but I'd never seen a photo of him till now. Andre is the spitting image of his old man, and how can any man possibly belong to a different race than his own father?
I'm not saying that Ward is white. But in truth, there is only one race of human beings living on this planet, and we all belong to it.
Nah dude, you missed it! He could've said somebody like Pacman, Wlad and Froch but he chose Bhop and Floyd who are slick and cry racism a lot. That's what give you the idea that he's talking about the "slick black fighter crying wolf"
Ain't nobody treating him bad but himself, he got a gold medal, he got a nice comfy start to his career with every advantage possible, he became a broadcaster and he barely even fights. Goosen did a phenomenal job and got him every single advantage and the most money and he's still not happy. Now he's on BET in his first fight without Goosen. I am glad HBO took the silver spoon out of his mouth.

"If you look at my career as a whole, I've always seemed to go the opposite direction of the crowd...it's nothing I haven't dealt with...it's always pressure...I've been dealing with pressure since I've been 13/14 years old...I haven't lost a fight since I've been like 14 years old and you gotta realize the kind of pressure that that is on my shoulders...it pushes me to perform," stated undefeated super middleweight king Andre Ward, who talked about the pressure of being undefeated. Check it out!

Ward is a great fighter no doubt, but if I ever caught him in the Bay Area I'd be sure to let him know him vs Kovalev would be a hell of a fight, one day.
We just want to see him pushed to his limits because we feel he's one of the best of this era. Also we're hungry for such a talent and he hasn't fought in ages!!
Ward has already cleaned up 168 which is one of the main reasons we want him at 175, also that he fought at LHW in the Olympics.

However, what you should really be concerned about is the vast amount of oversized middleweights who aren't willing to move up in weight, despite sitting at one of the worst weight classes in boxing in its current state. That's the difference between them and Ward, Ward doesn't stand for mediocrity.
Where would Ward have fought?
Bernard Hopkins called super middleweight "the division where light heavyweights who don't want to fight the best light heavyweight HIDE"
